Not bubble bath, candles, chocolate, clothes, underwear, books (I do want all of those but apparently they aren’t special enough)
Help!

And also not a robot hoover as something for housework isn’t a proper present apparently...

AirPods
Handbag

Magazine subscription (I got one last year and it was lovely when it arrived each month)
Flowers subscription

Perhaps you should ask for guidance as to what is deemed special enough? You seem to have suggested a lot of things you'd like, which I would have thought was the main point of a gift... Something that will please the recipient.

why aren't the things you'd like 'special' enough? Surely if you think they're special then they are?

To be happy, uplifted and excited. What makes you feel that way?

FippertyGibbett · 16/12/2020 18:44

I want a giant Toblerone and a pair of plain pearl stud earrings.

OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 16/12/2020 18:51

AirPods are really good.

Ten of your most favourite/wanted books.

All the supplies for a new hobby, for example balls of wool and knitting. Paints and cartridge paper etc?

Who is saying this OP? It all sounds very wearing and immature. You've said what you want and given various options so whoever it is is just being a bit of a knob and sucking the fun out of it.

The whole point of a present is that the other person wants it and/or makes use of it, not that we can feel good about what we got them and how exciting it was to US. That strikes me as selfish and bizarre disguised as generous. If they were that thoughtful they would presumably have some idea of what to get already anyway or would just get you all the things you've mentioned.

If I had to endure this nonsense I'd just tell them to get me nothing given i'd said what I want already and they're putting a stop to that and making the experience about themselves. Either that or I'd ask for something expensive I vaguely want but wouldn't buy such as a Dyson hairdryer.

I normally want luxury versions of every day things for Christmas.

Can't you have the things you asked for but special versions? A really gorgeous bath oil etc.

Guineapigbridge · 17/12/2020 00:17

Projecting but, time ALONE at a health/yoga/sleep retreat for a couple of days.
