Babysitting rates (Home Counties)

DD (15) has been asked to babysit for some neighbours. It's a while since we used a sitter so I'm just wondering what she should charge per hour?

I do think this depends on a lot of things, how long have you known your neighbours, are they your friends? Will the children be asleep and your daughter watches TV until they come home from their date night /whatever they are up to or will she entertain the children/ put them to sleep etc?

I remember that I used to get about £20 + oven pizza and loved it! I literally did nothing, got pizza and watched TV and got paid for it. It was for about 2-3 hours.

£7 per hour?

So many variables including the time, number and age of children etc.

Most babysitters where I am are fully qualified nursery workers looking for some extra cash. Understandably they can charge more as they have experience and paediatric first aid qualifications.

I imagine it’s unlikely that your daughter has much to compete with so unless it’s very late in the evening, or for a very long period of time, I think £20 would more than cover it. Will she need walking home?
