Self-isolating, Royal mail delivered parcel to my neighbour

...even though I specified a safe place in the delivery instructions and said I was self-isolating. Tried calling them to rearrange delivery, but a) I don't know if they can pick it back up if it's already been delivered somewhere, and b) their stupid automated phone system couldn't understand the address I gave anyway 🙄

What the hell do I do now?! It's not cheap, so I don't want it hanging around at someone else's for days!

I'd just knock, stand 2m away and ask them to put it into her floor. Don't chat and wear a mask

Do you have neighbour's number? Can you contact them via local FB? DO you know anyone else who knows them? IF so, I'd contact the neighbour and ask if they'd very kindly leave it at the end of your path/drive/whatever so you can safely collect it. I'm sure they won't mind if you explain why you can't go round.

Something similar happened to us and the neighbour did eventually bring the parcel round to ours off their own bat. They live in a completely different street and I have no idea why it was delivered there.

Trying to speak to someone on RM was impossible. I think they're very short-staffed at the moment.

Can you phone neighbour? Surely if they've taken a parcel in for you they'll drop it over?

dementedpixie · 15/12/2020 16:45

Put a mask on. Knock door, stand back and explain situation and ask them to put the item outside for you to pick up

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 15/12/2020 16:46

Mask up, go to neighbours door, sanitise your hands right before you knock then walk back down the path a bit before the answer. When they do, sort of shout towards them to ask if they could put the parcel outside?

efes · 15/12/2020 16:55

Sanitise your hands and wear a mask, use something to knock on their door with or wear gloves.

WeeDangerousSpike · 15/12/2020 17:01

Assuming you don't have a way to contact them (we have a local fb page that's mostly lost cats and parcels) then phone someone you know and ask them to knock neighbours door, collect it, and leave it on your doorstep.

RedRiverShore · 15/12/2020 17:02

If you don't go round, surely they will just come round to you, leave a note on the door for them to knock and leave it on the step

PurpleMustang · 15/12/2020 18:19

They obviously just missed the delivery notes. Heaven forbid. You do realise how busy they are? And you called them, you actually expected them to comeback and redeliver it!!

RosieLemonade · 15/12/2020 18:35

Do you have it or have you just come into contact with someone who has it?
