Did anyone see the 10 minute bit?
Dawn French spoke about feelings towards other people. She discussed Black Lives Matter, took the knee and then talked about Alice (Emma Chambers) who died a few years ago.

A lovely and very poignant 10 minutes.

V of Dibley without Alice is not Dibley.. so no I didn't watch it 🌺

OppsUpsSide · 14/12/2020 21:16

I didn’t know it was on but will definitely be looking for it on catch up

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/12/2020 21:18

The Vicar of D was a lovely comedy, not a pious, preachy thing.
We’re sticking with the old ones on iPlayer.

chomalungma · 14/12/2020 21:19

It was great. Just a 10 minute session after the episode. The tribute to Emma Chambers was lovely and the BLM bit was very well done with a simple message.

Yes just watched it I didn’t know Emma chambers had died 😔 as you say v poignant

@GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER

The Vicar of D was a lovely comedy, not a pious, preachy thing. We’re sticking with the old ones on iPlayer.
A comedy about a female vicar coming to a conservative village, shaking it up, introducing new ideas around faith and inclusivity probably did some preaching about things in it. Such as having a female vicar.

Only to you it seems 🤔

Fruggalo · 14/12/2020 21:29

I didn’t enjoy the way the Vicar of Dibley upped the parody stakes as it went along from funny to ridiculous. But blimey Dawn French, you played a blinder tonight for Emma Chambers. Nicely done.

ChrissyPlummer · 14/12/2020 21:36

I used to love it but as Fruggalo said it went really OTT and ridiculous towards the end. The first series and the Easter Bunny one are brilliant. I didn’t really like the Autumn/Winter/Spring/Summer thing they did, though they did each have their moments. With four, I think of the original cast no longer with us and one retired, I’d just feel sad watching these latest ones.

BlueThistles · 14/12/2020 21:39

the Easter Bunny episode was a classic 😂

TheGoodEnoughWife · 14/12/2020 21:53

I thought the tribute to Alice was well done however why does she keep referring to Owen? The actor who played him also died! It feels very insensitive to keep referring to him as if he is there? (Tonight he was mentioned as filming)

Flackattack · 14/12/2020 22:18

It was a lovely tribute - well played

MrsDThomas · 14/12/2020 22:23

We watched and they aren’t funny. Its had its day and we love watching the repeats, but they should have canned the idea if reviving it.

MissDollyMix · 14/12/2020 22:37

I found it very weird. Random reference to BLM felt shoehorned in and whilst the tribute to Alice was lovely, I felt it was somehow inappropriate to make up that she died of cancer when this wasn’t how Emma Chambers died. I don’t know, it’s just felt...off? It was about as funny as foot rot too.

TheFormerPorpentinaScamander · 14/12/2020 22:40

The tribute to Alice made me cry!
I wonder why they've only done a tribute to her though.

ineedaholidaynow · 14/12/2020 22:44

I think they were good friends off set.

Nat6999 · 15/12/2020 00:17

Dawn French said that the Alice Tinker bit was one of the hardest things she has ever filmed.
