Eether/eyether

I know there are two ways of saying either.

ee-ther and eye-ther

But I'm quite curious as to where each comes from. I'm not sure which I say anymore! So which do you say (or do you say something totally different?) and where do you think you picked it up from, geographically?

Eye-ther. Dislike the other version and have never used it. I also say neye-ther.

Boymumzy · 14/12/2020 16:53

Eether, eyether, I say both.

I'm an eye - ther and nye - ther person too - I got it from my mother. Most people I know say ee-ther and nee-ther but it's not my preference.

As I say to my child, 'in this house we say...'

Also forrid preferred over forehead as I think that comes under the same 'accent'. Westct over waistcoat - there's a whole bunch.

Ee-ther and nee-ther here.

Sorry - that should have been “nye-ther.
