Best way to send a 2.5kg parcel from U.K. to Australia?

I need to arrange for a violin to be sent from the U.K. to Australia - has anyone sent a parcel like this before and if so, who did you send it with? It’s not time sensitive. It’s too big for Royal Mail and DHL quote around £150 (which is ok) so any way better/cheaper than that would be good.

£150 is ok as hiring a violin is cheaper than this but if there’s a better way I would like to know!

I’m sending my old violin from the U.K. for my son to use - normally I would just bring it back but it might be another year before we get over there.

Thanks.

Sorry, I mean, hiring is more expensive than this.

Have you looked at DPD? They use DHL to fulfill internationally but I just did a quick quote guessing roughly at the dimensions and it was £106

UPS was cheaper but their service couldn't be any worse if they tried. Don't use them

Thanks, I’ll check those ones out.

Is also look at sendmybag - but check their policy on instruments.
