Cherrysoup · 13/12/2020 22:47

I bought sellotape.
I sent online presents to everyone I won”t see (pretty much everyone!)
I sent cards.
My DH got the decorations down from the loft cos I needed tinsel for Christmas jumper day. They’ve been sat there all week and I didn’t put up the tree as planned this weekend. Oops.

Breathmiller · 13/12/2020 22:50

I've bought a couple of gifts for the kids and nothing else.

It's starting to stress me out a bit but I'm struggling to get motivated. Tomorrow is the day to write a list!

I haven't written any Christmas cards, including ones which should have been sent Saturday to the US.
I haven't wrapped any presents.
We have, however, drunk all the red wine from Naked wines which were meant for Christmas Grin

lostandfound55 · 14/12/2020 00:51

I haven’t brought any presents yet apart from 3 for dds.

Mintjulia · 14/12/2020 00:56

Been to the post office to get stamps for my two overseas parcels. All that queuing up puts me off but I don't have a printer at home.

Superstardjs · 14/12/2020 00:58

I'm lacking massively on the food front. I was sorted for wine but I keep drinking it, the recycling people must think I am having illegal Covid parties. No tree, decorations, cards written. All presents bought and wrapped, other than one which has been in transit for 4 weeks. Luckily it's only pencils, but they are good pencils...

sneakysnoopysniper · 14/12/2020 02:39

40somethingJBJ · 14/12/2020 03:05

I’ve done nothing, apart from a few lights in the front window, as my village goes an advent window thing and I couldn’t get out of it. My dad died 3 weeks ago, it’s his funeral on Wednesday and I haven’t got the headspace for festivities yet. I really must get some stuff ordered for ds ag done point.

40somethingJBJ · 14/12/2020 03:05

*at some point. Damn phone!

Signaturesoftheworkers · 14/12/2020 03:08

Frownette · 14/12/2020 03:28

Aw, @40somethingJBJ Flowers

tobee · 14/12/2020 03:39

Sorry to hear that @40somethingJBJ

I started a thread the other day saying I hadn't bought any presents but I've now got most on order.

I've got food theoretically sorted. I have a Tesco slot. I have some Christmas duck and ham ordered. Plus a vegetable food box. I hope it comes. If it doesn't there should be something vaguely edible in the freezer.

Did anyone ever see The Good Life Christmas episode from 1977? The premise is that Margot has got all her Christmas presents and food and tree and decorations coming all together in a van delivery (Harrods?). It turns up, but of course, it's the wrong order. And that's it. No more delivery slots available. I keep thinking about that! ConfusedGrin

earsup · 14/12/2020 04:12

Everything sorted months ago...only buy 3 gifts and we are vegetarian so it's all in the freezer etc..lights are up all year anyway so no difference there...!! We don't have a tree.. sent 2 cards. Another easy no stress event for us.

Howmanysleepsnow · 14/12/2020 09:15

I have only got presents for my 6 year old will hopefully get 9 month old some stuff this weekend
Still to get parents and nieces and nephews FS can't be bothered but I feel obligated to. Have turkey and ham but not much else.

TheSunIsStillShining · 15/12/2020 02:57

Haven't:

  • written any xmas card. Never have.
  • haven't cooked anything for xmas. Why would I, still 10 days away
  • baked anythign either, see above
  • didn't get a tree. This actually bugs me. I ordered one in a pot, but got a call today that it was attacked by fungi and they gave me my money back.

Didn't make the flat look like a crap us movie either, which is rather positive :) My mum decorates every year. She has as much sense of style as I do. Crappy is not even close to describing it.

I did buy/test/wrap all presents to my parents as they were shipped of yesterday, so had no choice. But I did find one small item I forgot to send. They'll get it in Feb.

Kid still needs to sort out his dad's present.
Found my present from H. Many would be frowning, but I am looking forward to my new hand blender.

Already handed out one pre-xmas present to H, because he found it. He loves it :)

Yes, kid has found one of his as well. What the bloody hell was he doing in my clothes drawer???? And also it's a book that I bought because he asked for it when we were book shopping. So not a real present. (Sun Tzu/Art of War - what type of kid have a raised???)

Since my parents can't come, I don't have to:

  • meal plan
  • stock up everything to stupid levels
  • rearrange our sleeping arrangements and sleep on a couch not designed for that or bunk in with teen son. I truly don't know which is worse...
  • take part in the xmas decoration of the flat
  • eat endlessly all day long
(miss them, but trying to see the positive side. We are grown ups after all)
Gingerkittykat · 15/12/2020 04:53

I've not.

Thought about food.
Bought cards.
Bought wrapping paper.
Bought most presents.
Decorated the house.

I have
Sent 2 cards via Moonpig to my great aunties.
Reserved my Xmas Asda slot for 22 Dec.
Bought a small tree in a pot.
Bought retro lights which will be delivered to the post office later today.
Listened to my Salvation Army Christmas Carol CD in the car.
