How to get musty smell out of wool clothes

I have a few very good quality wool skirts that have been in the attic. (I mention the quality because I don't want to blast them on 60 in the machine.) I'm going to give them to the charity shop. But they smell awfully musty. I have washed them on the wool cycle. No change. They are now wet and musty. What's my next move??

Wet wool smells unpleasant, so its best to let them dry before you decide what to do next. If they still smell and you think it could be mould, dissolve a couple of tablespoons of bicarbonate of soda, soak them for an hour, then rinse well with a tablespoon of white vinegar in the final rinse.

A blow around in the wind on the washing line (on a dry day) will get rid of most of the smell.

We are having very wet weather here. Though a bit of wind and rain will probably be very beneficial

Febreeze actually works too. Give them a good squirt and hang them on the line to blow.
