sleep

A couple of weeks ago we took the side bars off our 3 year old's bed. At first he was fine and went straight to sleep after his 7.30 bath. But these past few nights, after we have put him down, he gets up and comes downstairs. It now takes an age to get him to lay back down and go to sleep. Anyone with similar problem, or some (much needed) advice?

We just told ours they weren't allowed to wander downstairs but that they could call down/call across intercom if they needed us.

Would that work?

He's only just turned 3. He wouldn't really understand if we told him that.
I guess I could try saying 'if you want daddy just talk here ...'

Ahh right. Can you pop the side bars back on then?

It sounds like he's not quite ready just yet.
