Winter walk in the rain

Months ago we booked to take my mil to a lovely winter light walk, for her Christmas present, she loves gardens and lights and being with her grandchildren. Normally we do panto but needed something different this year. Today's the day. It's pissing it down. I could handle a light drizzle or cold but this is torrential. Other then wellies, coats and brollies am I missing anything? I've promised the kids hot chocolate at the end. One of my kids is in a wheelchair so he's going to get soaked (I'll wrap a blanket round him for warmth if he'll let me)
Please tell me it won't be miserable. I'm sad her lovely experience will be a damp squib.

Thanks, I'd imagined a crisp cool evening, with kids looking great and my lovely mil having a great time, a chance to get some photos in the lights with them together. I'm now imanginging wingeing kids, disappointed mil and the cold that gets right through you.

There's no chance the venue would let you move the date I don't suppose?

Failing which would your DS like a hot water bottle for warmth? You can always take hot water in a flask and fill it up when you get there.

The tickets aren't weather dependent, I guess because it's winter! Hot water bottle in the chair is inspired :-)
