Has anyone NOT put up their tree yet?!

I'm trying to hang out til next weekend when I finish school Grin
(Real pot grown tree so the longer it sits outside in the rain the happier it will be)
My kids are grown up (two still at home) and we almost did it today but then had the plumber fitting new radiators and the day got away with us.
I reckon up on the 18th and down on the 28th feels short, sparkly and perfect....

I have to go and buy one next week. Ours normally doesn't go up til Christmas Eve and down on twelfth night, but I would like it up earlier this time.

ClearingSpaceOnTheTrophyShelf · 13/12/2020 01:24

Not yet. Maybe tomorrow, maybe next weekend

RuleOfCat · 13/12/2020 01:48

We always buy ours on the first advent weekend and stick it on the patio with outdoor lights, then bring it in and decorate on fourth advent, which is next weekend. So we get to see the tree for ages but only have it taking up space indoors for a comparatively short period. Works for us!

Time40 · 13/12/2020 02:05

What tree? I can't be bothered with decorations.

Frownette · 13/12/2020 02:09

No, not yet. The thrill of a COVID christmas has waned on me.

HeartShapedBox · 13/12/2020 03:00

I generally don't do a tree, pita and too much hassle imo

Topseyt · 13/12/2020 03:05

We haven't either. Its a job I give to the DDs once school/university have broken up. They could have done it this weekend, but it seems they couldn't be arsed yet either.

DaughterOfEvilReindeer · 13/12/2020 03:09

I'm going to do mine next weekend as ever but my word there isn't a bauble or a set of lights to buy to be found anywhere!

PersonalClown · 13/12/2020 03:10

Nope. Was going to do it this week but we've just found out that we are losing our 11 year old Staffy to stomach cancer so I don't feel like it now.

joystir59 · 13/12/2020 03:18

My wife died this July and I can't quite bear to put a tree up but may well change my mind.

TragedyHands · 13/12/2020 03:25

We too have had a bereavement with no funeral until 30th Dec.
Doubt we'll have any up, unless dd wants to put them up.

weaselwords · 13/12/2020 03:33

We never put ours up much before Christmas Eve. Might get one tomorrow which is early for us. Otherwise, you are sick of it by Boxing Day and since I love the bit between Christmas and new year I want to make the most of it.

isthismylifenow · 13/12/2020 06:16

No. In fact I haven't even packed away the Halloween decorations yet.

Will do it sometime before the 25th.

Been super busy at work so just haven't had the energy to do it is the reason.

Nishky · 13/12/2020 06:19

Nope- my daughter’s birthday is on 22nd so our decorations never go up until 23rd

RickOShay · 13/12/2020 06:22

@PersonalClown and @joystir59
I’m so sorry. Wishing you hope and peace Flowers

KihoBebiluPute · 13/12/2020 06:31

I generally try to wait till at least half way through December before putting up the tree. Last year I left it even later as we had young kittens and I was fully expecting them to destroy the tree (but they didn't). My parents tradition when I was growing up was never to put the tree up before Christmas Eve - before that day it is not Christmas time it is Advent. So putting it up around 15th-18th is still a week too early in their book.

I did find it was tricky to find a good tree that late from some sellers who tend to expect to have made most of their sales by then. However there's a Christmas tree farm about 30 mins drive away which lets you wander among the growing trees and claim one which they then won't chop down till you are ready to collect. So back in November I found and claimed my tree but it is still alive and growing for a few days yet.

BefuddledPerson · 13/12/2020 06:38

Flowers for those who have lost loved ones.

We will do it next weekend, but our decorations go up in phases (sounds more of an event than it is!) and the tree is always last.

Zoflorabore · 13/12/2020 06:44

Sorry for those who are suffering right now Flowers

We are not putting a tree up at all this year as we have a 10 week old Siberian Husky puppy who touches everything in sight. It would be on the floor before I had even finished decorating it.

Frenchfancy · 13/12/2020 06:47

We always have the tree up for the school holidays and no more. This year we have a puppy and 2 kittens in, no idea how long the tree is going to last.

Fifthtimelucky · 13/12/2020 07:19

I also do mine in stages. We started decorating yesterday, including a small wooden tree that sits on a table in one room. The outside decorations will go out today.

The main Christmas tree probably won't go up until Wednesday though, and on the same day we will bring vast quantities of holly and ivy into the house and drape it about. I have bought the Christmas tree already because, as others have said, it's sometimes hard to find a decent one if you leave it too late. It's in the garden in a tub of water, still in its netting.

KatherineJaneway · 13/12/2020 07:24

Me 👋 I am doing some painting in the front room so the tree is not up yet

CeliaCanth · 13/12/2020 07:33

We’re doing ours next weekend. I admit to disliking the trend towards putting Christmas decorations up early (in November for some people in our area) and whipping them down on Boxing Day. Ours will probably stay up not quite till Twelfth Night but almost.

cariadlet · 13/12/2020 07:55

I haven't put ours up yet. I might do it today but will probably leave it until next weekend. But dd bought herself a tree this year and put it up in her room at the end of November.

TheRubyRedshoes · 13/12/2020 08:26

I'm never sick of the tree it's a work of art here.

Not up yet maybe later today and will stay up for as long as we fancy

Mydogisagentleman · 13/12/2020 09:06

Maybe today, maybe 24th.
I need someone to go into the loft, DH is busy working and DD is busy sleeping and I won’t.
Unless someone brings it down it’s not going up
