We are due too move Friday. We are. Moving from South Wales too llandysul area, West Wales. I am worried about the kids settling. My 9 year old and 14 year old are so close too my parents it will be a shock leaving them. Obviously there is also a strong presence of Welsh language which we can not speak. I have found a bilingual school which teach in both English and/or Welsh and it is one of those schools where they go through from nursery too comprehensive. I also have too find a job and we all could do with making friends finding clubs etc. I am so worried about my kids though, my 14 year old has aspergers and struggles so much socially. I cannot sleep with worry. My daughter is also is painfully shy. We have no choice but too go for my husbands work. We have found a beautiful house have sold ours and are due too complete Friday. Any tips for settling, moving, area or schools clubs anything would be appreciated.

I don't live in Ceredigion anymore but I am from there, also near Llandysul. I think it is easier for children to make friends in the bigger schools than the small village ones. Which school are they going to? You may need to be prepared to drive for some activities, depending on interests. It is a beautiful area though. Good luck with your move!

Moved to same area 2 years ago. Primary child will get extra support with language. Older child should go into english stream at school. What school are you looking at?

@marydtf @Blod789 Hi was thinking ysgol bro pedr in Lampeter for both children. It is billingual and the older one could go too English mainstream and there is also support their for his autism. As its a school where they go right through primary too 6th form I figured it would be less disruption for my daughter as she is in year 5 now and won't be long before starting comp. It is a good 25 minute drive but I don't mind. I just want them too be happy. Do you know of any good schools? With English as a main Language? I don't think my daughter is going too lick it up very well. But she may surprise me Grin

Personally I think that is the best option. I have friends with children there and they are happy. My brother went there but many years ago. We moved to Wales when I was in year 5 and I was never fluent in Welsh even with extra support. I don't think Ceredigion has very many English schools. There are a few in Carmarthen but obviously that is Carmarthenshire.

My kids go to Newcastle Emlyn secondary school which is also bilingual and near to Llandysul. A very good school. They have a bilingual primary in Emlyn too.

I have 2 in Newcastle Emlyn high school and 1 in Bro Teifi at moment, though he'll move to Emlyn next year for year 7 and English stream. It's a nice drive to lampeter.
