Fun books for kids aged 4 & 8

I am looking to buy two xmas gifts for two kids (age 4 & 8).

I know that they don't have many books, so I'd like to get them each a fun book.

For the 4 year old, I'm thinking The Jolly Postman?

For the 8 year old, I'm thinking The Secret Garden?

Any better ideas? Preferably books that are interactive (lift the flaps, etc.)

They both sound lovely! Good choices!

I definitely wouldn’t choose The Secret Garden as a ‘fun’ book. It’s a beautiful story but it’s quite a slog and pretty challenging for an 8yo (it’s a recommended year 6 class text).
For the 8yo, I’d go for a book of funny/nonsense poems like Roald Dahl’s Revolting Rhymes or Michael Rosen’s Book of Very Silly Poems.
If you want something interactive, try Where’s Wally, the Big Book of Mazes or Usborne How Things Work. Otherwise, Code Name Bananas, How To Train Your Parents or The Christmasaurus.
For the 4yo: You Choose in Space, Usborne Peep Inside books, Aliens Love Underpants or Shark in the Park.

Thanks.

I have found a lovely interactive version of The Secret Garden though.

I think it looks lovely

I'd go for the illustrated Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone for the 8yo.
