Have you done so successfully? If so, what moulds did you use? My local Lakeland was next to useless this morning when I went in to ask.

We're going to try using silicon cake cases. They won't be round but figured that didn't matter. But we haven't tried yet so don't know if this will actually work

I saw one video that used Kinder Egg shells carefully pulled apart and then the edges melted and smooshed back together - might be worth a try in a pinch.

I haven't made chocolate bombs but I have made Easter eggs in the past. I imagine it's the same process. What are the ingredients for the shell? Is it just chocolate or a ganache type mix that will melt easier?

CisMyArse · 14/12/2020 18:21

Thanks both.
I think a regular melted chocolate is painted into the molds instead of a ganache.

I ordered a set of different sized silicone moulds from Amazon. The ones I used for the hot chocolate bombs were 3.5 inches across and worked perfectly. It's the Baker Depo Bakeware set.

CisMyArse · 15/12/2020 17:08

Thanks! Did you 'paint' the chocolate in? Or swirl it?

Am clueless!

I made some! I got round moulds.

I painted the chocolate in. It worked really well!

Graffitiqueen · 15/12/2020 17:17

I ordered some rigid acrylic baubles from amazon and used regular chocolate. It worked quite well but make extra as it can be pretty difficult to get them out of the shell without breaking.

LegoPandemic · 15/12/2020 17:17

Tried it with kinder eggs and it was awful!

efes · 15/12/2020 17:32

Use silicone egg cups to make the two halves and then use melted chocolate to join them together.

iloveroastpotatoes · 15/12/2020 22:54

I painted it in after tempering the chocolate.

Silicon cake cases was a success!
