Do you take photos and videos of the kids opening presents on Xmas day?

What type of cameras do you use?

The odd photo and video clip. I'm a photographer though and I take photos ALL THE TIME.

PoulePouletteEternellement · 12/12/2020 11:18

Why are you asking, OP?

Surely most people just use their phones?

Simplyunacceptable · 12/12/2020 11:47

I use my phone. I have an iPhone 12 so the camera is pretty amazing.

Poule- I’m asking because I’d like to buy a camera and wondering which ones.

Can't you just let them open them in peace and perhaps take a few other photos during the day?

Ginfordinner · 12/12/2020 12:05

I used to, but DD is at university now. I used a Sony digital camera, but this was before smartphones. My current phone (Galaxy S20) has such a good camera that I rarely use my normal camera these days (Canon Powershot SX220, which is about 10 years old now, but still much better for zoom shots than my phone)

Nipoleon · 12/12/2020 12:29

I usually do but sometimes I prefer just to enjoy the experience rather than going for photos I will barely look at. I almost feel stressed trying to get good photos instead of enjoying the moment!

Christmastime4 · 12/12/2020 15:23

Thank you

I take a few pics - just on my phone.

movingonup20 · 12/12/2020 15:26

Used to when they were tots, it was film back then! Smartphones have great cameras these days

WankPuffins · 12/12/2020 15:47

Yes always.

When my 18 year old was little it was harder as video camera and still camera!

Now I just use my phone.

I'm very sentimental though and I look back on everything. He's 18 now and his little sister likes to watch videos of him at her age.

My dad videod everything. He bought a huge great thing in 1982 when I was a toddler. My whole childhood is documented and it's lovely to look back on. I wanted the same for my kids.

reluctantbrit · 12/12/2020 15:47

We do photos but no video. I grew up with it and it is something you want memories off. The odd photo is not taking away the enjoy, ent, it is not that DD or DH have to pose with each present.

We have a SLR we use but also our phones. Phones are easy to just sent photos to the grandparents when we open their gifts.

Christmastime4 · 12/12/2020 15:59

Thanks again

I use my canon camera, I have a big aversion to using my phone camera. Most of the time I leave my phone elsewhere and take my proper camera.

Anyway, yes I do, not necessarily of what they're opening but it's nice to capture their joy when they arent posing. Also just for our home albums, nothing put on social media

ChessieFL · 12/12/2020 16:12

This thread is odd. Do you want a centra specifically for taking photos on Christmas Day? Why not just start a thread asking for camera recommendations if that’s really what you’re after? Confused

ChessieFL · 12/12/2020 16:12

Centra = camera!

SleepingStandingUp · 12/12/2020 16:13

My phone camera. I want photos but they aren't posing for them, I'm snapping as they go

You can do this with every camera. I use our SLR in the same way as my phone camera for most photos.
Truelymadlydeeplysomeonesmum · 14/12/2020 08:14

No but I should do. Then maybe I would know who got them what. Used to sit there with paper and pen for the postal parcels from family.

If I did record them it would be on my phone now. We have got a fancy Sony camcorder though.

Happytentoes · 14/12/2020 08:17

Kids - no. Dogs - yes! On my phone. Happy dogs ripping paper. Riveting stuff

SockDrawer · 14/12/2020 08:21

What phone do you have @Christmastime4 ?

SleepingStandingUp · 14/12/2020 09:11

@reluctantbrit sorry yes that came out wrong. I'm technically minded enough to point a phone, do a burst shot and hope one of them isn't blurred rather than having a proper camera I'd have to use properly where is be more minded to want them to be better photos

todayIdrankmilk · 14/12/2020 12:15

No never.
