I don’t feel well and nobody else is here to give me sympathy

So please indulge me.
Runny nose, sore throat, swollen glands and tired - classic cold really.

I’ve cancelled plans for the weekend just in case, and I want to go to sleep, but I am too achy to sleep.

Have you got enough food in? If throat is up to it anyone you can call? They're horrible, rest up and plenty of fluids!

Northernsoullover · 12/12/2020 08:39

This isn't the type of sympathy you want but will you please consider booking a covid test? Its horrible being ill on your own.

OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 12/12/2020 09:02

Thank you.

I don’t have any Covid symptoms, I’ve checked the NHS advice list and for now I have what I think I have - a cold.

Family members will be home soon and will hopefully nurture me. I can’t be arsed going downstairs for lemsip!

Get well soon, and enjoy the peace. I'm trying to have a lie in but small kids keep coming climbing over me

Moltenpink · 12/12/2020 09:32

Oh yes lemsip is the best. At least fingers crossed it should be over with before Christmas.

CounsellorTroi · 12/12/2020 09:37

Lemsip and a hot water bottle. Sweat it out. Hope you feel better soon.

OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 12/12/2020 09:38

And typically it’s my long weekend off too.

You poor old sausage! Find someone to read you a story on BBC sounds.

Gohackyourself · 12/12/2020 09:46

I’d get a covid test if I were you.
My dp has all the symptoms you have- and has tested positive on Wednesday .

Colds do still exist. The NHS website says only to get a test if you have the symptoms listed.
OhCormoranAllYeFaithful · 12/12/2020 10:41

I agree for now - I have no symptoms that aren’t entirely in tune with a common cold.

If we were not living in Covid times I would probably have kicked myself up the arse and gone shopping etc later.

I am being cautious (and indulgent) in staying in my bed, but I would amazed if I still felt this way tomorrow.

Btw I can taste and smell things, have no fever and no cough. I’m not going to take up a Covid test a lot until I am convinced it is required.

I did the online NHS COVID-19 checker when I had similar symptoms and it said I didn't need a test.

Anyway hope you've managed to struggle to get a lemsip (know how you feel, I want a cup of tea but can't be bothered to make one!)

Gohackyourself · 12/12/2020 20:34

@RosieLemonade you are correct, but then if you call 119 they also make a decision based on what you tell them in a bit more detail, which was why he was sent for a test .The common cold and flu do still exist but I guess power is knowledge , if you test and it’s positive , you know what your obligations are.

So, I noticed last night I had a tickly cough, I have mild asthma so I hardly paid attention.

I then had two virtual meetings after lunch and coughed through them - a quick check on the tea and protect app and I was asked to book myself fin for a test.

Very impressed at the system. Logged a request for a test at 3.20pm, was offered one at 4pm.

I’ll get the results in 24-48 hours. I still mainly think it’s a cold!
