Kindle account advice for DS

Morning DS 12 has dyslexia and never been interested in reading. He's been borrowing my kindle for a few weeks and suddenly devouring books! He's even asked for his own kindle for Christmas.

So my question is how do I set him up with his own account without him spending what he wants on my credit card? I suspect he's too old for Kindle Kids.

Do I just register his kindle to my account (and then he has access to all the cheesy Christmas books I like to read and this time as year as well as the helping your child with dyslexia ones...). I know there's a household account but can't work it out.

Anyone help please?

I have my 14 year old set up as a child on my account. You then mark each book as accessible for them in your 'My content and settings' on Amazon, or by press and hold on the book on your Kindle to get to Family library.
It works really well as I can share books with him, as can DH (as we do the shared household Kindle thing) so we have to buy far fewer books.
I started his Kindle as his own account, then you can buy Kindle books as a gift, but it was a pain as we couldn't share anything with him and had to buy everything

Thanks that's helpful. I didn't realise I could mark specific books will have another look!
