I am guessing Sheffield and pineapple are clues but I am still drawing a blank, although I now have a picture in my head of a lady with a large fruit hat in a dingy Sheffield nightclub

No, it's nothing to do with pineapples. It's a male duo and not the Human League and it's not Heaven 17 either. A bit of a cabaret act perhaps?

My DH comes from just outside Sheffield, although 80s not really his era. He can't think of a male duo cabernet band and tentatively suggested wham

P.s. you know if I'm asking DH, the sound of the bottom of a barrel being scraped is echoing around
