Why does my grill smoke so much??

When I cook anything under the grill the smoke is ridiculous, I have to have the back door open. I’ve just had the oven professionally cleaned last week. Any ideas what else I can do? It’s an electric grill with an element.

Following as mine is the same, makes the kitchen stink and frequently sets the fire alarms off.

Has the element been cleaned as well as the oven?

If there is grease on the element still it will smoke.

Also, if there is still residue of products used to clean the oven, that can make it smoke.

What are you cooking? We recently had a few incidents of this and realised it was Tesco sausages - our normal ones from the butcher are fine but tescos seem to smoke a lot.

Mine did this a couple of days ago and it basically means it needs replacing .😬😬

How do you clean that?

I don't use the grill function anymore, i just have a single oven with built in grill. I use the oven most days and anything you cook will spit fat etc over the grill element unless you cover everything with tin foil. And then it doesn't brown, i don't think you can clean a grill element properly. Loved my old fashioned electric oven from years ago with, separate grill and warming draw on the bottom.
If the smoke alarm goes off and the kitchen is choked, I know I've accidentally put the grill on .

Thanks for the replies - none of them fill me with hope!
@Clockstop any meat, tonight it was burgers, but can be bacon, sausages, whatever you’d grill.
