3W pregnant - brown discharge

So I posted on here the other day to try and seek advise/reassurance after my MMC back in June. I went to the shops that evening and got a test (Addict!) and couldn’t believe it when I saw that double line come up!!

I’m around three weeks pregnant and have a private scan booked in for the 6/7 week mark. But last night went to the toilet and there was some brown/bitty stuff as I wiped and it’s carried on throughout today. It’s only when I wipe and absolutely no pain whatever and no red blood. The doctor says we cannot be sure until the scan but was wondering if this has happened to anybody else and they have gone on to find a heartbeat at the scan? Whilst trying to be as positive as I can, my previous experience has left me with such bad anxiety. Thank you xx

Yes I've had many losses but one full term pregnancy and I'm currently 39 weeks with second and had spotting in both.

When was last period? 3 weeks seems early for test.

Tempusfudgeit · 11/12/2020 15:59

I bled pink and brown on and off between 5 - 11 weeks. Pregnancy was fine. It was terrifying though.

If you're still only one week prior to missed period, you unfortunately could still come on your period as normal and it be a chemical pregnancy. Do you normally start with spotting?
It's a horrible thing if you're trying but the advice it to not test until your period is due for this reason, so as to avoid the heartache.

Of course, it could also be an implantation bleed and pregnancy continue as normal.

Fingers crossed Thanks

@Livrose how have you got on so far? I'm 6 weeks pregnant after a MMC in February and I've started with some brown spotting but nothing bigger than a pin prick. If I wasn't looking so hard I don't think I'd of noticed it.

SirVixofVixHall · 19/12/2020 12:53

I had this too, and I was referred for a scan at the EPU, all was well, they thought probably implantation.

Livrose · 19/12/2020 15:04

Hi @peacheswife - unfortunately I miscarried last weekend. But there are so many reassuring stories out there for bleeding during pregnancy , don’t panic and best of luck to you. Xxx

I am so sorry Op.

peacheswife · 19/12/2020 16:11

@Livrose I'm so sorry, I have everything crossed for your baby journey.

Mine seems to have stopped after only 3 dots. So hopefully it was just the removal of anything before my cervix closed. I had it last time and was fine.

DaisyDreaming · 19/12/2020 20:03

I’m sorry to see your update Flowers

Totoro1234 · 30/07/2022 18:27

@peacheswife hi, sorry I know this post is old but I’ve also just had a couple of teeeensy brown flecks when I wipe today. What was the outcome with you? I had a MC in Feb so feeling extra anxious about everything. I’m almost 6 weeks pregnant. Thanks

peachesandpippin · 30/07/2022 20:04

That pregnancy was another MC but one period later I got pregnant again and had to same brown spots and now I have a 7 month old healthy baby boy. The experience was the same but ended differently so I think it's all pot luck. I hope you get a wonderful outcome. Ring your local early pregnancy unit at your hospital and they will scan you from 6 weeks and advice you before that.
