My house keeps getting infested

Moved into a council house 3 years ago.

Since we've lived here we've had

Mice - sorted by council
Ants - every summer
Woodlice - seem to have disappeared
Carpet beetles - absolutely RIFE atm
Wasps - every summer

Whats wrong with my house 😭😭

We do have some bushes over the fence and the garden can be very marshy (it can't be used its just really a marshy hill)

But that to me really only accounts for the wasps and woodlice?

I've steam cleaned the house I've sprayed insect killer. How else can I get rid of these bugs?

Depending on the age of your house you may have ants in the walls or an ant nest under the floorboards.

Are carpet beetles interested in wool carpets? It may be that you need to get rid of them if that's the case. Is there any treatment you can use that is similar to the clothes moths sticky notes that grab the males?

I think the house was built in the 50s

The ants only come in the summer but the carpet beetles are everywhere at the minute😩

No idea if our carpets are wool or not. We used to get them a lot on the stairs then we got a new carpet on the stairs and we ended up with LOADS more! Ive managed to get rid of them mostly on the stairs now but still get them in the bedrooms living room and kitchen. Even though all downstairs is laminate flooring

Carpet beetles are tiny beetles than come in from the garden. The larvae you see are their offspring (woolly bears). Diatamaceous earth got rid of ours when we moved in and found them. If you don't mind breathing in toxins you could also use a pet flea spray around the house, like Indorex or Acclaim. Bag up clothing in sealable bags and clear cupboards because they sneak into folds in fabrics and spray inside the cupboards.

They also live in birds nests and bits of old hair and fur (and dust).

that

I feel your pain. Every summer we get mice.
Cute little fuckers.

At least you’ve not had rats or squirrels yet! Squirrels nesting in your roof/having babies sounds cute until they start running around above you from 3.30am onwards and chewing your electrical wires...

We get ants and wasps every year and there are plenty of woodlice though mercifully mainly in the garden. (Sandy soil and 90+ year old house). You are not alone!

Ants are the easiest the solve- in spring put salt around the parameter of your house, drive ways/ patios- table salt!!!
