I’m huge fan of the Aubrey/Maturin books, and have recently been entertaining myself with Hornblower.
Audible has pointed me in the direction of the Kydd series. It’s got two big plus points for me, a great narrator and it’s 23 books long.
Now I know nothing will come close to POB, but I am a fan of napoleonic war maritime historical fiction.....
Have any of you done the Kydd books?

Dudley Pope and the Ramage series, or Alexander Kent (aka Douglas Reeman) for the Bolitho series.

Richard Woodman, the Nathaniel Drinkwater series.

Oooh thanks for the tips @thegcatsmother, I’d not come across those

I read POB off the backs of the Alexander Kent's. Dh is a retired RN Officer, known as the Master and Commander when he irritates me.

I haven't started the Kydd books yet, but a friend buys her son one every Christmas.

Thank you - I will be asking DH for audible credits for Christmas Grin

Oooo Bolitho, I used to have quite the thing for Valentine Keen.

Have a look at Lynn Bryant's Manxman novels if you like Napoleonic naval histfic.
Note: I am not she, my thing is the 17th century and I don't do the sea!

Another recommendation for Dudley Pope's Ramage. But no, nothing will compare to Aubrey and Maturin. Ah well you can't make your cake and lie in it, as Jack might have said.

Have you read O'Brian's other two naval novels The Golden Ocean and The Unknown Shore? If not, you're missing out.
