Hi All

I have my first day off in months on monday, just me & my dog 😍 i fancy going somewhere new, was looking at national trust Calke or Lyme, never been to either, both similiar drive. Can anyone recomend either? Or anywhere else i could try, i love keddleston & Ilam, go to both regularly with ddog & ds.
Thank you!

Lyme is lovely but you seem to have to book about a million years in advance to go at the moment

Lyme is super busy at the moment 🙄

But, the house reopened last week and has its Christmas decs up, cafes are all doing take away and there was a pizza van on site last weekend

Calke abbey for walking, I also love Shugborough Estate.

Sorry, just read it’s a Monday! You’ll be right for Lyme then. Just weekends it’s busy 😀

Calke is great for gardens and grounds.

Keddleston is pleasant but doesn't have formal gardens and has less choice of walks in the grounds.

I love Calke (...whispers .... I volunteer there! .... ) ... great parkland for walking, gardens lovely all year round, deer park, stable yard to explore, cafe, shop etc. House closed at the moment. Pre booking essential however , even for members. Can be done through the web site.
