Do you wear thermals?

New house v old = draughty and on the cooler side etc. I have to sit a lot during day working at home and get rather chilly. Are thermals worth a shot? Any other late 30 something wearing these in the house at this time of year?

I've been wearing them since my mid 20s! In winter I tend to wear a Uniqlo extra warm heat tech top everyday as just a long sleeved t-shirt/polo neck, with a jumper over the top. Before WFH I used to wear them under dresses too (I quite like a polo neck under a midi shirt dress) and sometimes I wear the normal heattech under a blouse or shirt (it adds less bulkyhan the thicker ones).

I also have heat tech leggings and socks! Honestly I think I would have turned into a frozen lump without them

I have Uniqlo heat tech tops and leggings. They are really thin but very effective. They are comfortable, fit under other clothes fine, wear and wash well. I originally bought mine for a winter trip to Norway and I was toasty.

BUT If you are going to buy them go and get them from a Uniqlo shop , I have just ordered my self some extra pairs online but there seems to be a real issue with Uniqlo deliveries at the moment. There’s a thread about it somewhere.

I always used to feel cold but now I have some sort of problem with my metabolism (GP is trying to work it all out) and I'm always boiling. I sweat just looking at thermals.

Another Uniqlo wearer here. I wear them all winter. They're great for everyday use and wash well.

Add Heat Holders socks (different lengths and they also used to do Welly Socks). It's like wearing hot water bottles on your feet. Some days I also wear ankle warmers too as my ankles can be like ice though my feet are cozy. Also try wrist warmers - fingers and thumb not enclosed - very helpful if you have arthritic wrists. All available on Amazon. 🌹

Oh yes. I have some thin merino leggings and log-sleeved tops that I wear under everything most days at the moment. Mine came from Aldi or lidl, and Decathlon, worn, washed with whatever and tumble-dried, and doing fine.

It seems silly to heat the whole house when I'm the only one in it, and also silly to walk around the house twice a day turning all the radiators on and off - next year we're definitely getting some of those smart valves!

I love them. Blankets are a pain, but just layering up with thin layers keeps me toasty with minimal hassle.

Oh, and a USB heated pad that I sit on - originally bought for the cats, but they decided they weren't into it, so I use it instead.

Lots of people wear thermals all winter in Canada, but we call them a "base layer" so it doesn't sound quite so ...(?). I am fine outdoors down to -10C without a coat if I have a good base layer on.

Of course. I feel the cold and have worn them for years. House is properly heated.

I do for work. I visit schools and they're very chilly at the moment, lots of open windows.
I really like the M&S ones, long in the body.

I just bought some since I was getting freezing cold WFH. The m and s version (from ebay traders though not actually from m and s). They definitely help.

Yes. I bought some vests from Amazon and some leggings from matalan and wear them underneath my PJs all the time I'm at home. I tuck the vests into the leggings and the leggings into socks (2x pairs: a thin pair underneath a thick pair) so no skin is exposed when I move about or bend over etc. I also wear a thick, fleecy top above my PJs. Our house is cool because we have no money but I'm lovely and warm.

Yes. I have many tops and bottoms and very thick socks. Wear them all day when WFH, only wear tops at work as we have a comfortable temp in our office and I'm up and down a lot so keep moving which helps.
The Decathlon ones have some sort of fleecey goodness to them..

My 17yr old DD has been wearing them for the past month, (non uniform school) they have all the windows open for cornoa and she was just freezing ! Not anymore

I ordered quite a few base layer tops, socks & bottoms from Mountain Warehouse yesterday, for DC & I.

All Merino wool and less than half price, I hope they don't itch

This is me! Although I don’t think there is anything wrong with me, I just run hot. DH says I’m the only woman he’s ever been with who is never cold 😂 We live in a cold old cottage without central heating and I sleep naked year round. I do get a bit chillier during the day but it’s nothing a jumper can’t fix.

Yes, I'vd been wearing thermals for years, since working in a workshop with open doors all year. I'm miserable when I'm cold so it's worth it. I work in a school now so all the windows are still open.

I've got long john's, thermal tights, and about 5 tops of varying lengths. The longers go under everything I can squeeze them under. And the various tops depend on whatever neckline the jumper or dress has.

I live in them the m and s heat gen and the m and s merino wool tights. A life saver. Was in Swiss in January for work it was minus 12 and I was saved by my thermals

Younger than late thirties but yes wear thermals. Always have in the winter. Generally at the moment it's a thermal vest or long sleeved t shirt (depends which are clean), I don't tend to bother with thermal leggings currently but do wear warm jogging bottoms and cover up with a blanket and sometimes a hot water bottle - since nobody sees my bottom half on webcam
