Is this bedtime behaviour normal?

Dd is nearly 6, and ALWAYS makes a huge fuss at bedtime, and always has!

I don’t think in her entire life she has ever gone to bed without a drama! Dh and I are utterly exhausted every night trying to get her to go to bed.

We have had the same routine every night since she was a baby, bath, story then bed. So she knows what coming. It’s almost like it’s a habit now, and she just does it because that’s the way it’s always been!

Her room is warm and her bed is lovely and cosy but she still finds any reason to make a fuss.

I just wanted to see if anyone has any good tips for a calmer bedtime? I just sort of assumed when she was a toddler that it was normal and she would grow out of it, but if anything it’s worse now!!

Maybe ask her what she would like to do before bedtime? Why doesnt she want to go...is she scared or just wants to hang out with you longer etc?

Is she tired enough at bedtime?

A friend had this and did as PP suggested, talked to her daughter about what bits of routine she liked and what she didn’t and how they could make one she liked. They drew pictures of each element and put that on her door and let her have a bit more control. Or think she had control Grin
