Window cleaners - how much?

Hi all,

Am interested to know how much you pay your window cleaners as I feel like I'm being over-charged. I live in the North of England and I'm paying £18 for a 4 bed semi with two sets of patio doors. And for this they leave the windows to drip dry causing streaks!

Also am annoyed with them hammering on the door today when we were both on teams calls insisting that we speak to them because they want us to set up a DD for payment. No amount of 'I'm working and I can't talk about this right now' was getting rid of him so I'm a bit annoyed at the intrusion. I feel inclined to sack them off because of this and I think the price is high.

How much do you all pay?

I'm in Essex and pay £15 for a three bed semi detached. It's just the one guy and it's cash in hand. If I'm not home to lay he leaves me a bill through the letter box and comes back the next day

Doesn’t seem high. We pay £12 for 10 windows and one set of french doors

PearlHeart3 · 10/12/2020 16:39

I pay for £15 for a three bed semi, this includes a large bay windows, 8 normal size windows and the double patio doors at the rear. He also does my little window above the front door which I think is nice. He visits once every two months and sends an invoice via email a few days later, which I pay through online banking.

NoGoodPunsLeft · 10/12/2020 16:40

£11 for 3 bed detached in East Midlands with one set of patio doors so yours doesn't seem too steep.

BigRedBoat · 10/12/2020 16:42

I pay £17 for the same as you, south of England

dementedpixie · 10/12/2020 16:43

£8 - 4 bed detached with bay window and sliding patio doors (scotland)

Plussizejumpsuit · 10/12/2020 16:45

£7 for 6 windows. But it's a 3 storey terrace so there's definitely extra effort in cleaning the top floor! I'm in NE.

North West - £10 for 4 normal windows, 2 separate bay windows, 1 large set of bifolds and 3 velux.
As above if we aren't here they post a note through and call back anther date or, more often we pay double the next time

MerlotChiantiMontepulicano · 10/12/2020 16:51

£15 for a three bed semi, south east.

Sunflowergirl1 · 10/12/2020 16:51

£15 for large 4 bed detached and large sliders.

No way would I do DD. They never come when they should so wouldn't in effect lay upfront

ImAKaren · 10/12/2020 16:58

I pay £8 for seven standard sash windows (victorian terrace). London

fruitpastille · 10/12/2020 17:00

16 quid for semi plus conservatory. I have his bank details to pay whenever it's done.

Snally82 · 10/12/2020 17:08

£21 5 bed detached with patio doors and Velux windows

SardineJam · 10/12/2020 17:09

£12, terrace with 5 front windows - I'm South West

pussycatinboots · 10/12/2020 17:12

North West too.

NDN pays a tenner for her 4 bed detached with 2 sets of patio doors - but it's a bloke with a van of "purified water" and a hose, no ladders.

We do our own.

CountFosco · 10/12/2020 17:13

NE England here. £15 for 4 bed semi with 3 french doors, £5 if they just do the front of the house (which is still 2 bays and 6 other windows).

BreakfastOfWaffles · 10/12/2020 17:15

I pay £36 for a five bed semi, including bifold doors across the back plus they go on the roof of my kitchen and do the skylights. South East, so hard water area. They use softened water that doesn't leave a residue.

chocolatesaltyxmaspudballs · 10/12/2020 19:35

Thanks all. Big variation. This guy doesn't have ladders either - brushes on a huge pole. And I'm convinced they scratched one of the windows last time. Anyhow I've just told him not to come back. No way am I setting up a DD.

£7.50 for a 3-bed terrace in Lancs. 10 panes plus fanlight at front, 14 panes at back and single pane French doors.
Seems quite reasonable!

Kpo58 · 10/12/2020 19:41

Local window cleaner £10

Local window cleaner off the internet £70 (I didn't use the latter).

GiantKitten · 10/12/2020 19:46

Oh, & he calls to be paid the same week. If we miss him we pay double next time.

ritzbiscuits · 10/12/2020 20:03

£10 for a three bed semi including 1 set of patio doors (N West), also includes two big bay windows.

I sacked off the ones that used the poles as I wasn't happy with the job. Pay the same price for another guy who is lovely, and cleans my upstairs on ladders.

Biancadelrioisback · 10/12/2020 21:50

Northumberland and I pay £7 for a 4 bed semi with conservatory
