Is it unrealistic to think I can have 2 more babies ?

I am 39. We would like to have 3 children altogether. I’m still bf number 1!
But my age - a couple of people have said to me 2 won’t be possible as ill find it hard conceiving - this baby was conceived immediately surely I’ll be ok ?

Maybe I should plan when I have another not to breastfeed too long so can have a smaller gap ?
Has anyone else had their babies later on (I’ll be 40 next sep)

Not unrealistic, I had two in my forties, and got pregnant ridiculously fast each time.

Have your periods returned? A friend of mine got her periods back despite exclusively breastfeeding and concieved DC2 when DC1 was only about 6 weeks old - ended up with an 8 month gap as dc2 was prem! 😲

Other people including me don't get their periods/ fertiliy back until they stop breastfeeding.

I have an old school friend who had 3 children in quick succession after turning 40, but she's just a Facebook friend nowadays so no idea about whether she breastfed etc.

Possible. And breastfeeding is not birth control so don't assume you won't get pregnant while you're doing it.

A friend of my mum’s had three in her 40s! A one year gap and a 10 month gap!

SinkGirl · 10/12/2020 14:48

I had two at once which definitely helped... can’t say i would recommend it though!

It may be possible, it may not. Nobody knows. A friend of mine recently had her third at 42 (eldest has only just turned 4). I am 38, we have been trying for nearly a year, and nothing. (Got pregnant straight away with older two).

If I were you, I would be trying to conceive again ASAP (even if your period hasn’t returned.

Good luck.

Hyper fertile just after giving birth periods or not and breastfeeding or not.

Mother to two 13 months apart while breastfeeding and no obvious periods

I was 35 ish but took years to get pregnant the first time and earlyish menopause in mid forties

I conceived while breastfeeding at a similar age. I did have miscarriages before a successful pregnancy, and sadly I think you need to be aware of the risk of this given your age.

As for whether its possible to have two more babies? You won't know unless you try, every woman is different. I would have thought odds are in your favour to have one more, two less likely but certainly not impossible.

No periods not back yet but hopefully soon I will try soon to maybe drop another feed as food increases or maybe use some formula I don’t want to give up bf yet but maybe feeding less will help
