Am I going to let DD look like an idiot sending her in like this tomorrow?

It’s Christmas jumper day tomorrow and yesterday I rushed out to get something for both kids.

I managed to get a jumper for DS but nothing for dd as there was nothing in her size.

Finally found what I thought was a long sleeved dress and thought fab. She can wear that over her uniform.

Got it home...and dh pointed out it was a nightdress.

I have no one to ask and no way to buy anything else.

So my choices are:-

Send her with the nightdress jumper or send her in anything I can find in the drawers.

Which one would be better?

My initial response your OP was going to be no way but having seen it, it is fine. Just looks like a dress.

SATSmadness · 10/12/2020 13:54

Style it out as a dress or a tunic style top and it'll be fine.

Bonus is that you'll get more wear out of it as a nightie too.

Not such a waste of money as an actual Christmas Jumper.

SillyUnMurphy · 10/12/2020 13:56

It doesn't look like a nightdress to me at all OP. Pair some red tights with it and you're grand.

WhyDoYouAsk · 10/12/2020 13:56

It will look lovely with black tights! ❤️

WhyDoYouAsk · 10/12/2020 13:56

Or red!

ClaireP20 · 10/12/2020 13:58

I think it looks great! My poor son is wearing a normal jumper with tinsel threaded through....we couldn't find anything for him in his size either!! Xx

Spied · 10/12/2020 13:58

I'd send my DD in that. It's fine.

HeyManIJustWantSomeMuesli · 10/12/2020 14:09

It doesn’t look obviously nightwear at all but, given that it is from Sainsbury’s, it’s not hugely unlikely another girl in her class (or someone’s sister) has it and might point out it is a nightie. It really depends on whether she would be upset/embarrassed if someone pointed it out.

Merinocool · 10/12/2020 14:17

My DD has this and I definitely think with tights it will be fine.

Harrysmummy246 · 10/12/2020 14:26

DS will most likely be wearing his new jumper with sequin dinosaurs (kinda reversible for colour change) to nursery forever more.... He can definitely pull it off as christmas though. He can also pull off the rainbow stripes and bright yellow trouser.

Oh to be 3!

YoniAndGuy · 10/12/2020 14:27

At 7, yes fine!

Bonsai49 · 10/12/2020 14:27

Looks like a casual dress it’ll be fine

Holothane · 10/12/2020 14:33

Brilliant idea,

nancyclancy123 · 10/12/2020 14:34

It’s perfect! Smile

SpaceOp · 10/12/2020 14:36

I think it looks fine just one q - does she normally wear a dress over her shirt? Because at DC school they have been at pains to highlight, repeatedly, that Christmas Jumper day is NOT a non-school-uniform day and that therefore jumpers are to be worn in place of school jumpers.

So if this was me, I'd probably just fold it under and tack it up so that it's a bit shorter and looks like a long t-shirt or sweatshirt rather than a dress. But if she can get away with not wearing a school dress, all good.

GameSetMatch · 10/12/2020 14:37

That’s fine, pair of tights and boots she will look great!

MarshaBradyo · 10/12/2020 14:38

Yep it’s fine

Nanny0gg · 10/12/2020 14:49

I know it's all a bit of fun in a dismal year, but is it worth is for the stress and money this has cost many parents?

OP - doesn't look a bit like a nightie. She'll look great

SugarCoatIt · 10/12/2020 14:58

It looks fab, and perfect for her age too

CharityDingle · 10/12/2020 15:01

Tights or leggings and it's perfect. It's lovely, actually.

TheOrigRights · 10/12/2020 15:08

It's fine.

I also had a desperate time trying to find something for my 11 yo (year 7).

A million jumpers for women, quite a few for me, loads for girls, quite a few for younger boys and ONE for older boys. Thankfully he likes it.

D4rwin · 10/12/2020 15:13

It's absolutely fine!

D4rwin · 10/12/2020 15:14

Plus they're only pjs if you wear them to bed Wink

Demitri · 10/12/2020 15:37

Absolutely fine it doesn’t really look like a nightdress so you’ll get away with it!

Abetes · 10/12/2020 15:40

It’s fine.
