Presents are mainly here but not assembled or wrapped. Some still need posting. Cards not posted.

Decorations are up. Booze is bought. Pudding is sorted and that's my contribution to dinner.

CuppaZa · 10/12/2020 15:57

Tree up, 90% of dc presents bought and hidden. 15% of DH and 0% of family.
Decided on meal, didn’t manage to get a slot so have to brave shopping in person.
Got to post cards and stock up on crockery and glasses.

muddledmidget · 10/12/2020 15:59

I put my tree up yesterday, and I think I'm about halfway through present buying, but I've actually not gotten around to writing a list of people yet, so might be more or less, I actually have no idea, and what's worse, feel so unfestive, I don't even care! Watched a lot of ch5 films to try and get in the mood, but it hasn't worked, I feel like the grinch

I've the decorations up
Most presents bought (dh sorts his family and the cards)
I've a few cards to post
House has had a major spring clean and windows booked for next week.
Decluttered
Groceries - I just do a usual weekly shop in aldi and go early and always manage to get what we need. Its only ourselves for dinner.

TheTurnOfTheScrew · 10/12/2020 16:02

I've got 90 percent still to do I think
Cards are in the house but unwritten
Started Christmas shopping today, plan to finish online over the weekend.
Decorations still in the loft.
Forgot to order the meat - must call the butcher tomorrow

I have booked a Sainsburys slot for the 23rd though, and I did make the Christmas cake at half-term.

badlydrawnbear · 10/12/2020 16:55

I have still got almost everything to do. I have bought no presents except stocking fillers. I don't even know what to buy anyone, including DH and DC. I have written no cards except 1 which I posted today to a relative because I was posting a birthday card. We have put up the tree and that is all.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 10/12/2020 16:57

I'm done. Need to sit on my hands to stop buying extras.

minipie · 10/12/2020 17:02

Yep pretty much everything still to do.

Presents are mostly bought (except maybe a few more stocking fillers) but not wrapped.

Food is not ordered, except a goose for xmas lunch and a fish for xmas eve. And wine.

Tree and decorations are not up.

Cards, we don’t really do, but have a few to post.

No bday card or gift for DH (23rd dec bday)

I’ve had plenty of time so no excuse but just can’t get my head around Christmas earlier than mid December.

FireUnderpants · 10/12/2020 17:12

I'm waiting on one delivery, judging by the angry rants on their Facebook page from customers missing orders in starting to think it's unlikely to arrive. But it is only small stocking fillers that won't be missed.

I need to post some gifts to extended family, all are boxed and ready to go.

My food delivery slot is booked, I have a paper list and just need to add it online.

DS needs to write out his class cards before the school postbox gets sealed off for its quarantine period. (there's a sentence I never thought I would write)

I thought I had an extra week before the schools finished. Only yesterday I checked what days the terms end on and was shocked to see it's next week. I have a rabbit with vaccinations due so am squeezing that in next week.

IliveonCoffee · 10/12/2020 17:33

Most presents bought. Just a couple of people really left and some little bits.

Wrapping to do
Food lists to write. I've got christmas dinner main planned and breakfast. No idea on starter or dessert, or Christmas eve and boxing day.
No delivery slots so having to brave the shops on the Saturday before.

Tree isn't up
We are definitely not organised enough for cards.
Haven't planned a bloody bubble.

Tree up and all decorating done
Presents all bought but quite a lot need wrapping
Christmas cards - nothing done yet
Another large batch of mince pies to make, they get demolished very quickly
More brandy butter to go with the mince pies
Marzipan Fruits to make
Christmas Rocky Road and Christmas tree biscuits
Gingerbread house to construct
Chocolate Yule Log
Nativity tableau to make for little DGS

Thanks to being retired, I to have time to do all this in a relaxed way, (fingers crossed); I wonder how I managed it when I was working.

Christmastime4 · 11/12/2020 15:06

Tricky - should be plenty of time

TurquoiseDragon · 11/12/2020 16:25

Everything, basically.

DCs dad died, and as they were NOK, all the funeral organising has fallen on me. There's no-one else to do it.

Getting back on track, though, as it was always gonig to be a low key Xmas.

AurorayRuben · 13/12/2020 11:24

Has anyone's DP still got a lot of things to do before Christmas??

Christmastime4 · 13/12/2020 17:47

Turquoise - I’m sorry Sad

So just realised my last day for giving work Xmas cards is Tuesday as I have leave booked. Not written cards or bought presents.

Have to give teachers' cards and presents in on Tuesday in case they want to quarantine them.
Not wrapped
Ditto for childminder.

Every year I think I've got loads of time and realise that I need to have certain gifts ready early to give at the right moment.

S0CKS · 14/12/2020 08:34

Loads to do!
Brought some wrap me up gifts but nothing much for anybody.
Done basic decorating need to do some more.
Haven't wrapped a single gift.
Had every intention of being in town by now... Still in my nightwear under a blanket drinking tea.
I would do it online but don't really trust it this year :(

StCharlotte · 14/12/2020 08:45

I only have two presents to buy but I'm self-isolating so can't get out and I fear we might be in Tier 3 by the time I can.

Couldn't get a delivery slot for love nor money (damn you all!) so I will need to do a Big Shop at some point.

Cards are mostly done. Nothing wrapped yet.

Christmastime4 · 14/12/2020 12:04

Always think there’s lots of time left

OP posts:
AurorayRuben · 15/12/2020 14:15

There is Christmastime4...it's only the 15th.
Some people need to learn to delagate more especially if there are two capable adults in the family.

mummyof4kids · 15/12/2020 14:33

Trees up, presents bought apart from our parents, some presents wrapped but still a lot to wrap, need to do that before the kids break up.
House is half cleaned, just the food shopping to do I think and I'm done

TrickyD · 16/12/2020 11:58

@Christmastime4

Tricky - should be plenty of time
There is more time than I thought, Christmastime4, because I was convinced Christmas Day was next Thursday. Mainly because my mum used to say her birthday, on 19th November, was five weeks before Christmas which would have made Christmas Day next Thursday. Maybe she meant Christmas Eve. Anyway, I have gained an extra day now I know Christmas Day is Friday.

I have accomplished a few of the things in my list, mince pies, Rocky Road, local cards, and the Nativity tableau for my little DGS, whose mum is Catholic and said he would like one. My big, and heathen, DGCs were somewhat bemused.

Quornflakegirl · 16/12/2020 12:09

All done apart from vegetables I need to collect from Waitrose on the 23rd.

All other aspects of my life are a shit hot mess though.

AurorayRuben · 16/12/2020 16:53

All done and dusted...tree up and down- decos put away, presents bought, wrapped and given, food bought, cooked and eaten...wow I am Super woman/Martyr.....me...in fact I am so ahead of myself I think I'll start preparations for next Christmas.
