Help! What board game?

I need to find a board game as a present, minimum 2 players but great if it's one that would work over the web too. They like Catan and Ticket To Ride.

Love Letters is a great quick card game.

Lords of waterdeep!!! Absolutely my favourite game ever and works equally well whether you have 2 or 5 players. Very clever game.
Carcassonne is always a safe bet
Puerto Rico works ok 2 players but not as good as either of the above (it has
Problems with 3 player but works well 4-5).
Hive definitely is an acquired taste, closer to chess than a classic Board game and very much a marmite game
Yy to splendour or Dominion (intrigue not base set). Also Segrada
