How many fairy lights do you put on your 6 foot tree?

I have a 6.5 foot tree. Is 200 lights and 100 baubles enough? Or should I put in an extra 300 lights.

8 foot tree has 960 lights.

I have 100 on my 5 foot tree and thought that seemed lots... my parents have twenty for their 5 or 6 foot tree (very vintage), so 100 seemed comparatively quite a few!!

We have 400 for a 10' tree.

They aren't on yet. Looks like we will need more.

We are not alone.
Everyone has a different aesthetic sense.

For me the most of the beauty is in the tree itself, not the adornment.
Lights and decorations are there to enhance, not to detract from the tree.
I have only 200 lights and 50 decorations on my 7 foot high tree.
I want to see the dense foliage,the soft branches, gaze into the Narnia like dark interior.
The tree is the main part, not the decorations.

I am interested to know if those who go for huge number of lights have real or artificial tree?

Another vote here for 100 lights per foot, but an extra 100 if you fancy it. I always put at least 700 lights on our six foot tree. But it was quite a wide one. I'd do fewer on a slimline or pencil tree.

Mine is an artificial and the number of lights work for it. It is quite "full" (takes about 3 hours to attach each branch individually) - I don't know if I would ever use less on a real tree - I've never had a real tree - this one is 13 years old and the one before was a hand me down!

My 7ft has 1000 lights and I don’t think that’s enough! 500 coloured and 500 soft white. Both berry bulbs so they give a lovely soft glow.

We have a string of 30 vintage tulip shaped coloured lights.

I'd like another 30 the same, but no more than that - I'm going for an eighties look.
