Does stress cause pain in the body?

Over the past few weeks I have been experiencing pains in my body that comes and goes and its shooting pains.

Pain in a hand that comes and goes,
Pain in my jaw that comes and goes,
Pain in my neck and shoulders that comes and goes,
Today I started experiencing pains in my hips. First the left side and then a while later the right side.

So it's all very bizarre. It's quick, sharp, pinching pains. The hands seems as if its settled down now and looks like the jaw might be settled down too. Currently neck, shoulders, and hips have shooting pains and it's quick in nature.

Just wondering if stress can cause havoc in the body like this? I've been tremendously stressed over the past few weeks. I usually have an easy going attitude and an upbeat attitude to live and looking on the bright side and the positive side of things. I do my best to make regular time for my hobbies and interests.

However there is stress filtering into my life:
I have an aging mother who might be going senile.

I have a boss that's on a power trip and orders me around like a dog.
I have a sibling with issues that look like an undiagnosed personality disorder and she's on a mad bender with an axe to grind. She hasn't been physically in my life in about 5 and half years but the abuse and harassment continues. I'm not in the UK and the law is rubbish where I am. The cops are not interested because I'm not getting physically abused and tortured and threatened.

There's a lot of stress from so many different angles. Would stress be manifesting in the body like this - with pains or would the pains be something else different?

I try my best to eat well. My sleep is off due to the lockdown. I try to walk a few times a week.

I never had covid by the way if that makes a difference. I know covid can have some weird symptoms.

Yeah, anxiety can too. I have anxiety and always end up with random physical pains. Usually upper back pain due to holding my tension there but also get shoulder and arm pain.

In a word yes stress can cause physical symptoms however stress can also put pressure on body systems which can then cause even more serious physical symptoms. If you have unexplained symptoms it might be worth getting checked out.

I really do think the pains are related to stress.

Definitely I always feel stress in my back and tummy and the bowels. All of them areas.

I can battle with time and meals are skipped or rushed every day which probably also adds to it.

Today, every step I take, I feel it mainly in my left hip and sometimes right.
