Down memory lane - Open the safe!

Does anyone remember the thread about the mysterious safe which may or may not have ever been opened?
Well just to remind you, this is one that DS1 thought we would find useful. He found it on Gumtree ( so I suspect it will turn out to be a very thrifty Christmas present) and today with the help of a sturdy trolley and an even sturdier friend, managed to get it through the house and down the cellar stairs.
Apparently the lock works.

I remember that one - don't think anything was in it in the end?

Congrats on new safe however

I thought they never managed to open it. Frownette .

Goodness knows why DS thought we needed one, not exactly the owners of tiaras and bullion.

DH thinks he might keep his tools in it to stop DS borrowing them.

I'm not sure actually @TrickyD, can't remember, I was just a bit surprised so many people were fascinated by it!

That sounds like a plan keeping DH tools safe, it can be quite irritating when people borrow stuff when asked not to :)

Ok so you have tiaras and bullion stashed somewhere else! what's your address?

My sister has one of these in her cellar, also locked. Someone should set up a little side business opening Victorian safes with some kind of power tool, I'd definitely pay to see if there's anything in it.
