Present giving etiquette

After my DD was born (first baby) I received a lot of lovely presents for her from my extended family...and I am embarrassed to admit that I did not send presents to all of them, when they had babies. Mainly due to the fact that I was unmarried and living at home at the time or just lazy (they were abroad) and my mum bought a gift 'from all of us' for them. I only started giving presents now that I am my own family unit and to those who I have a closer relationship with. Should I now by one late or will this appear to be 'tit for tat'?

No I think what you have done is the norm. I didn't give my own gifts for new babies when I was living at home but after I was in my own family I started.
