I have multiple lobe/cartilage piercings in each ear. This morning I could feel my third lobe piercing on right ear was a bit sore. Gave it a twiddle at the front, loosened the back a bit as it's usually happens when they're a bit too tight.

Was sat at my desk a few hours later and felt my earring fall out. Picked it up and it had come out of my ear WITH THE BACK STILL ON 😲.

How the hell has this happened?

The piercing is red and sore with crusty bit on the back. Tiny bit of blood, certainly not enough to suggest that my earlobe spontaneously ripped open causing earring to fall out or enough to explain the stud being swallowed by my ear and falling out the back.

It's a simple butterfly back diamante stud.

Am absolutely bewildered 🤯.

How big is the stud? I've definitely had them go through the back, but I do tend to wear small

I don't know the exact mm but it is quite small (similar to pic).

Am now thinking that must be what has happened 😳. Barf.

Not the greatest mystery to ever grace MN eh 🤣.
