I finally broke down and got an Apple Watch in an attempt to get fitter and less fatter. Any tips and tricks?

Yes it pairs to your ear pods to control music so you don’t have to scrabble about for phone to change music

When you live in a town house and Sod's law dictates you are always 2 floors away from where you left your phone when it starts to ring....... you can answer it on the watch. This has proved most helpful far more than I would ever have anticipated 😂. Not sure it's conducive to improving my steps though!

You can also sound an alert on your phone from your watch if you can't find your phone.

Takes your heart rate, tells you average for resting, walking, exercising etc.

I can't seem to get it to sync with health app on my phone? Is it possible?

Use it for paying. No card needed. Just hold your wrist close to the card machine.

If you do directions in Apple maps it automatically sends the directions to your watch and buzzes when you need to turn left etc.
Hey Siri, how long to home tells you how long to get home from your current position, good on long journeys.

I’ve set my Home Screen with a weather module which gives the day’s high and low temperature which is useful in the morning, plus tap it and it tells you the % chance of rain each hour.

Open the Health app on your phone. Tap your profile (your picture at top right of Summary page) , then tap Devices. Tap your Apple Watch. Tap Privacy Settings and make sure Fitness Tracking is turned on.

I have the Activities complication on my main screen, so I can keep track of my exercise, and it's useful to remind me to get up and move around every hour, which is something I too often forget to do.
You can get notifications of all your emails and texts on the watch and delete/Mark as unread or whatever without having to get your phone out, and you can reply to texts and WhatsApp messages by typing, scribble writing or dictating (which I find the easiest way)
You can also answer the phone, even if your phone battery is dead (though you have to have the cellular version for that)
I pretty much always use it to pay in shops, which means I don't have to take my credit card with me.
The reminders app is useful for shopping lists, the remote control on the camera is good for selfies and group photos.
Oh and you can use it to tell the time...
