Thought I’d set this up as we don’t seem to have one. Please delete if we do and I’ve missed it.

Thanks @Egghead68 Much appreciated. I've very much dropped the ball on this. I wonder if mn would allow us to edit a post in the last thread to sign post people here.

I've not been active as I was but it's always been a comfort to know I could pop on even if I only had the energy to read!

Hope everyone is getting through it although what choice do we have! It would be nice to hear Christmas plans, or lack of! & hear any news of vaccines that might come our way

BeyondThunderdome · 08/12/2020 11:13

Hiya all, just checking in :)

FestiveFannyGallops · 08/12/2020 11:28

Thank you! Checking in and still debating JL on Friday. Reports say it's been not busy and rates are continuing to drop here. Friday will be the last day in school for the dc to protect us from having mum alone at Christmas. I'm going to practice my Paddington hard stare if anyone gets too close to us. Or get mum to take her walking stick and whack people with it Grin

Egghead68 · 08/12/2020 11:37

I’m getting my vaccine today!!! (Nhs front line and obs CEV). So excited!! I hope you all get yours soon.

FestiveFannyGallops · 08/12/2020 11:40

Oh wow that's amazing! Fantastic news!

Teaistheanswer · 08/12/2020 11:53

Thanks for the new thread @egghead68 and really pleased you are getting the vaccine today. Can't wait for my turn but fear it might be quite some time away, still fingers crossed.

Hope you are all doing ok. I am currently at home again as my whole year group are out yet again! Luckily my new very restrictive risk assessment meant I was nowhere near the child who tested positive so I can go back in to my deep-cleaned class tomorrow but no children until two days before the end of term! So instead of being alone at home I can be alone in my class Confused Never ever spent so much time by myself as this year!

My DH has just got back from being tested. Luckily he is negative. He had no symptoms but we are in one of the worst areas at present and he's in a school too so when a staff member he was supporting tested positive he was sent to get tested. Military carrying out the testing, he was very impressed at how efficiently it was set up and done. Really hoping having them will bring our numbers down like it did in Liverpool.

Keep safe all and let's hope the vaccine gets to us as soon as possible.

AuntieSocia1 · 08/12/2020 15:30

Good luck @Egghead68 please report back!

Egghead68 · 08/12/2020 15:54

Had vaccine (surrounded by film crew - hope none of them has covid). There was a lot of paperwork. The injection itself was completely painless. My arm feels a bit warm round the injection site but otherwise so far so good.

Hoping everyone here can get it really really soon. I’m optimistic all CEV people will get it Dec or Jan.

So glad all went well @egghead68. Let's hope us shielders soon get to become the shielded Grin

Good grief @Teaistheanswer. Sounds very stressful with all the stop-start.

Babysharkdoodoodood · 08/12/2020 16:23

Well my poor niece, who is a gp, and supposed to be giving the vaccine, has been refused it! WTH? I thought nhs were getting it first?

I'm on nights for the next 2 shifts and I have my prosthesis fitting tomorrow at 11am. I'll probably doze off on the way there. Still on reduced hours so only working 2200-0400. But still ugh!

MilesJuppIsAnOldSlutOnJunk · 08/12/2020 16:28

Thanks for the tag @Egghead68!

And WOW that you’ve had the vaccine!!!

I assume that I’ll get it Jan-Feb, as I’m 4th on the list, & I read that they’re aiming to get numbers 3-7 done in Jan & Feb.

It doesn’t feel real to me yet.

I can’t believe that my kids will be able to go back to school, and I’ll be able to go into a SHOP!!!

Teaistheanswer · 08/12/2020 16:29

It is certainly bonkers! A whole new version of the hokey-kokey! @egghead68 So sad as we had loads of great stuff planned for the little ones to make up for the fact that we can't have a nativity play or year group parties and now we'll have one and a half days and quite probably about four children! Tbh why send them back to risk having to isolate over Christmas. We haven't exactly got a good track record, it's our third time out Blush

BeyondThunderdome · 08/12/2020 16:43

I'm envisaging having it January-ish, but thinking I'll keep the DCs off until summer term. There are so many parents in their school who are anti-science and don't even believe in the virus - never mind will keep them off ill or consider vaccinating eventually - that even with a vaccine I'm concerned about my risk of getting it. Especially given that they're expecting a much lower efficiency in immunocompromised people.

BeyondThunderdome · 08/12/2020 16:44

Ps don't worry about tagging any other beyond's, @Egghead68 - they're all me Grin

OrganTransplant123 · 08/12/2020 18:53

Wow @Egghead68 that’s amazing news! Did you cry? I honestly think the sense of relief would bring me to tears.

Egghead68 · 08/12/2020 20:01

I cried before I went! It is very emotional thinking of this all coming to an end (fingers crossed).

Thanks for the new thread @Egghead68
So proud of you having the vaccine, I can't wait to get it and hopefully start getting back to some normality.

MilesJuppIsAnOldSlutOnJunk · 09/12/2020 08:35

How's the arm @Egghead68 ?

(This is my Christmas name btw) ^

Egghead68 · 09/12/2020 08:42

All good thanks - no side-effects. I hear they are worse after the second dose.

I am a total Miles Jupp fan - love him in The Thick of It.

One million more vaccine doses are due this week. Let’s hope they get through the priority list really quickly (fir those that are able to have it).

I can’t believe I not only missed the Grand Opening of the new thread but @Egghead68 getting her vaccine! Am so pleased for you!

Now feel a bit like Spectre At Feast as I hunted out new thread after discovery it seems the Pfizer vaccine is out for me. And anyone else with a history of severe allergic reactions.

I cannot emphasise enough how deeply MORALLY wrong it feels to be cheering Oxford on for something. Even if it is delivering a vaccine...

Could 2020 please stop 2020ing now? (Will admit it had Common Or Garden decency to play surprisingly nicely for me personally on my birthday - including getting to see my daddy & my aunt-who-usually-I-spend-lots-of-time-with; getting approximately my own weight in books; & Incredibly Delicious Cake...).

Anewuser · 10/12/2020 06:51

Happy belated birthday @MarieVanGoethem

Egghead68 · 10/12/2020 07:54

Happy belated birthday @MarieVanGoethem! I’m glad you had cake and got to see your father and aunt. 🎁🎉🥳🎂 I am sorry the Pfizer vaccine is out for you. Everything crossed some of the others get authorised soon.
