to ask about convoy of white vans and a police car ?

I possibly have too much time on my hands, but this is bugging me and I can’t figure it out.

I was out walking my dog a couple of months ago. I was walking through some fields that run parallel to a private road that leads to what I would describe as a rather grand farmhouse. I can’t think of a better description, although it isn’t attached to a farm, just some land with horses in and a few outbuildings.

Anyway, that road is usually quiet. As we were passing on that day, three identical white minibus vans - with blacked out windows - trundled slowly up in a line, with a police car following behind.

It caught my attention, as it reminded me of something out of Homeland Grin My teenager said to me “That was weird”.

We do have a member of the royal family who sometimes visits our area, but certainly doesn’t stay locally I don’t think, so it crossed my mind it was something to do with them - but the royal family/ general VIP’s don’t travel in minibuses (as far as I know !) so I discounted that idea.

So, on to the present time - as I drove past yesterday, I noticed a police car sitting in the private road, facing towards the main road past. It would be an unusual place for a speed trap, and they don’t seem to be monitoring the traffic. It is still there today, and it is blocking the private road in and out so would be a very inconsiderate place for the police to park if not connected to the house.

Any ideas about what could is going on in at the bottom of that road ? And have I watched too much Homeland?!

Serial killer with multiple bodies buried in the basement.

A massive cannabis farm.

They really like the scenery.

Have you tried searching your local news? Grin

Hornearedowl · 08/12/2020 09:33

Nothing on news @JustLikeStitch Grin I wondered about a drugs raid too but we just like in such a boring area... you never know though, maybe that is why they picked it!

I tried a general internet search but ended up on conspiracy theory sites where people think they have spotted secret nuclear convoys Hmm

They might not actually have been minibuses , maybe vans. They had windows though

No idea, but I need to know now, so can only imagine the torture for you if you know the house Grin

FedUpAtHomeTroels · 08/12/2020 09:56

Do you have a local faccebook page for your neighbourhood?
Our village one would be lit up with this kind of thing.

Not the royal family we have them around the area a lot - balmoral castle

I've come across them a few times it's always a line of range rovers with blacked out windows

onyourway · 08/12/2020 10:29

Search teams in the unmarked vans, I would imagine.
Or relocation of high profile family being offered protection at police expense?

user1471565182 · 08/12/2020 10:44

It'l be some famous bod or possibly corona vaccine stuff?

springtimeinbognor · 08/12/2020 10:47

Someone needed a 'safe house' - protection /debriefing/ interrogation!

Bluntness100 · 08/12/2020 10:49

They don’t put important folks in white mini buses.

So it’s likely a training event for local police officers.

WankPuffins · 08/12/2020 10:51

Aliens.

hobbyiscodefordogging · 08/12/2020 10:55

Stuff like that is usually a training exercise round here.

Bluntness100 · 08/12/2020 13:31

Yes, white mini buses is likely just busing staff in for a training thing,

Folks like the queen or the prime minister have range rovers, with police cars before and after, and police bike outliers. It’s a whole different scenario.

I was on the motorway and Boris was coming back from up north, honestly you should have seen it.

First police bike came past, looking into each car as he went by, I said to my daughter that’s so weird the way that police officer is staring into all the cars, then a few mins later, I saw lots of blue lights, first came two or three bikes in a row , then a police Land Rover,, then it was three or four unmarked range rovers with blue lights in the windows,, then another police car, then two or three bikes behind that.

When it’s someone important you know. They aren’t shoved in mini buses.

BarbaraofSeville · 08/12/2020 15:19

If there was only one marked police car, it probably wasn't of the 'arrest the bad guys' variety.

Our neighbour got arrested for GBH and they sent six marked police vehicles to pick him up.

Sounds like a training event to me. They do this quite a lot - find an out of the way place where they can run around without disturbing too many people. The trainees will have been in the mini buses and the police car will have been a prop or the person in charge.

I tried a general internet search but ended up on conspiracy theory sites where people think they have spotted secret nuclear convoys

They're not usually very secret. The armed guards and radiation symbols all over the place kind of give the game away.

JustLikeStitch · 10/12/2020 10:47

Did you find out @Hornearedowl ? Suddenly remembered this threat in the middle of the night and my curiosity got the best of me!

ghislaine · 10/12/2020 10:57

Prisoner transport?

PawPawNoodle · 10/12/2020 11:00

@ghislaine

Prisoner transport?
Not in minibuses.

OP could you not go over and ask? They might not tell you but equally, they might fill you in.

user1471565182 · 10/12/2020 11:02

I reckon it was to do with this royal train journey horseshit

x2boys · 10/12/2020 11:15

I wondered about prison transport ,we live close to a crown court and often there are prisoners transported there ,but the vans have the security name on the side

giantangryrooster · 10/12/2020 11:36

Now I'm curious Grin. Why not ask the officer in the car or your local fb, and since you posted on MN then if that doesn't work you have to get out with your binoculars or simply trespass. You can always update from your local police station... please Grin.

lilmishap · 10/12/2020 11:48

Could it have been a jury being shown a scene of crime?

Hornearedowl · 10/12/2020 12:35

The police car is no longer there. I am quite taken with the “scene of a crime” idea though, but would surely know if there had been a crime.

My younger DS has binoculars, I’ll tell him we are going bird watching and snatch them off him as we pass Grin I shall also ask around, to see if anyone knows who lives there... 🔍
