I read somewhere that coffee suppresses your appetite and why some people use it as an aid to weight loss.

GeidiPrimes · 07/12/2020 12:52

Well it's a stimulant, and that's one of the things they do.

Lardlizard · 07/12/2020 12:54

Now I can’t eat my lunch 😡

Lardlizard · 07/12/2020 13:07

Pink do you drink it often ? I don’t do maybe that’s why it has this effect on me
Plus it always makes me need the loo 🙈🙈🙈

Not really, I only drink in the morning most days and I'm always starving at breakfast time Grin

Lardlizard · 07/12/2020 18:40

How soon do you have breakfast after your. Coffee?

Where can l find this coffee thing?

My coffee has no effect on my appetite at all.

whenwillthemadnessend · 07/12/2020 18:46

Yes it think it does. I have proper coffee and then I do t need to eat till 11/12. I'm a real brunch tea and supper person

MadeForThis · 07/12/2020 19:42

Maybe depends on how you drink your coffee. I drink mine strong with 2 large sugars. It definitely fills me up. Especially a costa or Starbucks.

Onedropbeat · 07/12/2020 20:44

I find black strong coffee does the trick for the morning

But there’s also new research saying it can cause insulin spikes

Who knows

ImnotCarolineHirons · 07/12/2020 23:25

Random celeb fact - Apparently Jennifer Aniston stayed/stays super skinny by drinking loads of coffee. She needed strong mints for kissing scenes as she had real coffee breath.

Doesn't affect me as I drink coffee every morning. DH only has one occasionally and says it does reduce his appetite after.

yeOldeTrout · 08/12/2020 04:10

I don't drink coffee but yes caffeine has this effect on me (tea or sodas).

QueenOfPain · 08/12/2020 04:16

Op, coffee is know for get the bowels working. It happens very reliably for me.

WaveWalker · 08/12/2020 04:20

Caffeine can also be a bladder irritant.

PhilCornwall1 · 08/12/2020 04:41

@WaveWalker

Caffeine can also be a bladder irritant.
As at least a 9 to 10 cup a day a day person of freshly ground coffee, I can confirm this to be true. I'm quickly wearing out the carpet between where I work in the house and the bathroom!!
Graciebobcat · 08/12/2020 04:44

Sadly not.

WaveWalker · 08/12/2020 04:52

:D phil
I usually drink decaf to reduce that issue...

Susanwouldntlikeit · 08/12/2020 05:08

Interesting! I rarely drink coffee because it makes me feel vaguely nauseous although as a creature of habit when I spend time in another country where coffee is almost a religion I drink it there and eat almost nothing and inevitably lose weight as a result....Hmm I feel a project coming on...😊

Lardlizard · 08/12/2020 09:33

I don’t know how anyone can drink 9-10 cups a day ! 😵😵

OP posts:
Fleetwoodmacs · 08/12/2020 09:36

Yes, if it's a particularly strong one I often feel a bit sick afterwards too. I usually skip breakfast but have 2 coffees.

PhilCornwall1 · 08/12/2020 10:02

I wake up very early 🤣 I wonder if the two are related 🤔
Lardlizard · 08/12/2020 12:08

🤣🤣Phil !
I’ve decided I'm never going to drink it again !

OP posts:
TheTurnOfTheScrew · 08/12/2020 12:10

I wish.
I must have ten cups a day (decaf after noon) , and my enthusiasm for crisps and cake is entirely undiminished.
