I brought mine to a Teddy and Doll doctor bc I was unsure about materials.
The result was lovely.

There are YouTube clips online for washing old teddies. The BBCs Repair Shop has one.

I have one c 50 years. I don’t think it could be put in the washing machine although he is in very good condition. I imagine it to be surface clean only. The filling wouldn’t be like nowadays

obviously look at the youtube video, but my first thought would be to put it in a plastic bag full of rice to absorb any moisture, and maybe add a bit of bicarb to the bag to absorb any smells. I wouldn't wash it with anything. if you surface wash you might rub out the fur.

I have washed several of mine from when I was young. Often had to restuff them as the stuffing was old lumpy stuff.
Had a cream sheep that had yellow stuffing where the dye came out of it. Fortunately I took stuffing out, washed then restuffed and it was fine. Now a favourite with my grandson.
