Please tell me there is a solution

I’m gutted. I am due to start a new job tomorrow... and this afternoon my DC1 has developed COVID symptoms.

We had already made big adjustments to allow me to go as last week DC2 has had to isolate due to being a close contact with a confirmed case. back up childcare arranged and paid for. DH has worked all weekend so he can look after DC2 ( needy five year old) etc.

Now I’m going to have to contact the new job and tell them aren’t I? Unless there is anything else I can do?

It’s really important I do handover for the role before the end of term too.

Any ideas on ways to word an email to a new boss on a Sunday night?

I guess it’s just sods law but the timing sucks😭

I presume there is no way DH can do the child care ?

With the new role could you do a handover on the phone / teams / zoom etc ? Anything is better than nothing

I think the place of work will understand

He can do the childcare... but if we have symptoms in the family doesn’t the whole household have to isolate until we can get a test sorted?

any way you can get to a test center today? Dd1 had one at 6 and the results at half 10 the next day.

You are just going to have to email and let them know today, and hopefully you will only miss one day.

The symptoms have only come on in the last few hours ( temperature)... so not been able to test yet

The handover will have to be done online or postponed until your child has a negative test.

you should be able to book one for later, I think my local ones last appointment is 8.

Depends how far away it is I suppose.
