Palpitations. Gp sending me for an ecg

Wondering if anyone has had the same before. I have been suffering from palpitations for a few weeks, went to doctor this week and she said my heart rate is quite fast, she wanted to run some bloods and send me for an ecg, however not sure how long the wait till be due to backlog from Covid. Tonight I feel my palpitations are worse. Should I ring nhs in the morning? I also suffer from anxiety so not sure if it could be due to that. Thanks for reading

My palpitations were caused by a thyroid problem, not dangerous as such, but disquieting. Anxiety doesn't help.
After getting the levels back on track the palpitations vanished.

What did your GP think was the cause?

@Prokupatuscrakedatus sorry to hear about you're thyroid problem, hope all is ok. Palpitations are a horrible feeling aren't they? My gp didn't specify what she thought it may be, my mum has history of a fast heart rate (can't remember the name of the condition she has). So think gp wanted the ecg and bloods done just to rule out anything that could be the same as my mum. Thanks x

Mine were ruled out by anaemia. I had ecgs and a week of wearing a heart monitor.
