Sorry to be such a downer but has anyone had this? I am really really struggling. This is all a relatively recent thing. Im trying lots of steps towards sorting myself out but its a freaking nightmare. Any tips or advice or frankly any vaguely kind answer would be appreciated!!

How old are you? Menopause has given me both.

Hello, OP. Are the anxiety and blood pressure linked, eg are you anxious about high blood pressure or do you think your anxiety is raising your blood pressure? Are you seeing your GP about either/both?

I’m not a medical expert in any way but I do have experience with managing anxiety. I found that cutting down caffeine significantly and cutting out alcohol altogether really helped.

I also take propranolol on an ‘as and when needed’ basis which helps to manage the physical aspect of anxiety and I’m pretty sure it’s actually meant for managing high blood pressure. I’m on a low dose for that reason, as I have normal blood pressure. Maybe worth exploring with your GP if you’re not already on medication?

And if you’re on hormonal birth control it’s worth checking that out. I think both high blood pressure and anxiety can be side effects.
