I've only just realised....

The toaster I've had for 10 years doesn't need to be turned upside down to empty out crumbs....

It has a 'crumb tray' which one can pull out a underneath. to do said job. Blush

I'm a few months off being 50

Anyone want to make me feel slightly better? Grin

I'll make you feel better. That wouldn't even rank highly amongst my list of daft things it's taken me ages to realise! Hope you get a few more years out of it!

Itsnotalwaysme · 05/12/2020 13:34

I didn't realise until a few years ago that Rome wasn't its own country.

Does that help? Grin

I am 48 and I have only just discovered fabric conditioner.

Purplehatsandflowers · 05/12/2020 13:44

Oh- and DH is older than me and he onyl discovered about the crumb tray about 2 weeks ago when I did it (and I only found out because of The Organised Mum Method website about 2 years ago. )

DH was blown away when he saw me do that to the toaster. he was well impressed. I basked in that. :)

Purplehatsandflowers · 05/12/2020 13:47

Oh- and my favourite colleague is Australian (and a PhD) and she thought for years that Liverpool was in London. A bit like the east end.

BuffaloCauliflower · 05/12/2020 13:48

I use the crumb tray and still need to turn it upside down as well. Clearly leave it much too long between cleaning

There is a full sized pan drawer in my kitchen that neither DP nor I noticed for over 3 years!

I always thought Dubai was a country until a year or two ago Grin

We've been five years in our house and a visiting tradesman last week pointed out we had a cutlery draw we'd never noticed.

I've only just realised....
AgentProvocateur · 05/12/2020 14:20

I will admit I am very old but ever since I married, last thing at night I would fill the kettle before going to bed. Mother had always done it so I just carried on. I would invariably throw it away to boil fresh water for tea. Around AD2000 I mentioned it to Mother who said "Oh yes, we always did that during the Blitz in case the water main got hit so at least we could have a cup of tea" Grin

Don't feel to bad ,apparently a 60 odd year old man found a bomb shelter in his garden recently having lived in the house for 40 years ,it was under the garden and has concrete stairs and everything!

AgentProvocateur · 05/12/2020 14:37

@Purplehatsandflowers and @Sparklingbrook, turns out I do have a drum tray 😂
