Do radio stations keep contact details?

Was just wondering about this. I text my local BBC station and a community station semi-frequently, and am curious about how long they keep the records for.

I occasionally use a false name on the BBC station when giving a political opinion in case people I know are listening but am concerned they might realise this if someone monitors the records.

I listen to Smooth and a couple of years ago I entered a comp ( on air) to win some vouchers for Pets At Home , I was asked what pets I had , I told them dogs and polecats .
I did not win the comp but about 2 months later they rang me back to see if I would talk about my pets as they were doing a slot on strange pets and would I talk about my polecats .
I did , it was fun and they sent my £10 for PAH ( I had no idea I would get that , I dont think anyone else did as it was never mentiond on air .

So in short , yes some do but probably only if they think it is something they can use later on.

To comply with the regs around record keeping I am pretty certain that they are shredded or deleted after each show. Competitions are different as they are retained for obvious reasons.

Ask to see their privacy statement.

Thanks for your replies. Smile My guess then is that they probably don't, as they are unlikely to want to invite me as a guest.
