Possibly a silly question about international post

I feel daft asking this but does anyone know if you have to include a customs label when you post a greeting card from the UK to Australia? I just bought postage online from Royal Mail and now I've gone to print it out it's included a customs label. It's literally just a card, nothing else inside. I hope someone knows as it's the last posting day to Oz before Christmas.

If it is literally just correspondence, ie a card, then no, it doesn’t need a customs form.

I honestly don’t think it will get there for Christmas though. I’m still waiting on a parcel to be delivered that was posted in early November.

Thank you for answering! Trying to find the answer on RM website was doing my head in. Ah well if it doesn't make it in time it's not the end of the world. My own fault for not sorting it sooner.

No, you definitely don't need a customs label if it's just a card. That's only for parcels. You have to declare the contents of a parcel, but a card is fine.

Thanks for confirming! Smile

Posting times are bizarre at the moment. I got a thing from book depository in 10 days. My mum sent a parcel that got here in a week. My in laws sent a card and it took two months.
I think things have speeded up recently - my White Company order only took about 10 days too which is basically normal.

It is advisable (but not a requirement) to write “card only” in top left hand corner of the envelope.
