Anyone got their hair thinned out at salon? Does it grow back awful?

Hi,
I have very thick hair that’s wider in width than length! I’ve used thinning shears to cut some of the inner layers close to root and then brush out the cut bits and it looked perfect. Not poofy anymore so I would do this every 5 months or so. However I noticed that when it grows back it looks AWFUL (straggly rat tail looking ends with a thick top and very uneven lengths and a frizzy mess!). It’s taken me nearly a year to grow out this awful look but now my hair is nearly all the same length and thickness all the way down is consistently

Is this regrowth issue solved by getting it thinned at a salon or will the same issue as above likely occur if I stop getting it thinned ? & how often does it need to be thinned?

Tried and tested experience people’s responses would be great

I got mine done and I looked like Suzie Quatro! I have MASSIVE hair...it's Caucasian hair and only wavy rather than curly but it's huge. One hairdresser said I literally have two helpings of hair...she said it's like double a normal amount.

Thickly sewn and thick individual hairs.

My only way of wearing it now is to keep it longish to weigh it down a bit and wear it up in a messy bun all the time.

If I wear it down I look crazy even with layers and straighteners..

I have mine thinned at the salon but they don't do it close to the root, it's more graduated. So I guess that helps with the problem you have, because it's been thinned out at different lengths.

Mine grows back fine, again they don’t do it close to the root.

I’ve got longish hair, quite fine strands but loads of it. It’s wavy curly, but gets pulled straight by the weight of hair by the time it’s to my shoulder blades.

Never had that problem, but only have it thinned at the ends, maybe the last two inches or so. It brings out a little spiral curl at the ends.

Hairdresser uses a razor not scissors. He says if he thinned it out too much, the weight would be lost and you need that to pull most of the length straight.

I always ask for mine thinned out but towards the bottom so it just looks like nice long layers.
