Help! I need a new bike!

Hello, my lovely old fashioned bike was stolen from me yesterday, my wonderful MIL has said she will buy me a new one for Christmas. I used to have a Pashley Princess but found it too heavy when I moved out of London to a very hilly country town so swapped to a 1980's Raleigh Caprice. I like the old fashioned 'sit up and beg' style, but it needs to be lightweight as I will have to carry it up and down a flight of stairs every time I use it. I like the look of the Pendleton but read a bad review here which has put me off. Can anyone help? To some up, a lightweight old fashioned looking bike? TIA

If you liked your Raleigh Caprice, gave you had a look on eBay?

How about the Pinnacle Californium (Evans brand) there's a few variations of it. Sad at theft.

Pendleton bikes aren’t bad, but Halfords can be very hit or miss with actually assembling the bikes properly and doing maintenance. Is there a local bike shop near you? They might be able to recommend some good options you can test ride.

Have a look at Temple Cycles too

these are all great suggestions thanks - my last bike came from ebay, my MIL has given me a budget of 250 Smile so I'd like to make it something a bit more special s I'm actually the Queen of Second hand!
