If you had a £30 John Lewis voucher to spend on yourself....

...what would you buy?

I'm stumped. I'm crap at buying for myself. Please inspire me.

I could, in theory, add another £10 or so to the voucher to get The Thing.

I'm not particularly into makeup / skincare / beauty. I'm mid-30's, mum to young kids, working and studying.

Straight down to Waitrose for some nice food/drink.

SausageRoll2020 · 03/12/2020 20:15

I would have chosen make up but as this isn't something you normally buy maybe check out their Christmas department, the decorations this year are beautiful.

Or maybe get some pretty stationery for your studies?

lboogy · 03/12/2020 20:27

Stationary is a good idea and makeup

Hmmm. Thanks all.

I'm trying to find nice things that don't involve food (there's been a LOT of nice food in lockdown....) so maybe stationery is an option. I do most of my work online but I'm sure I could find a use for a good pen or something.

Bottle of whisky or a couple of bottles of wine from Waitrose. Maybe a nice steak to go with them.
Flowers spread over two or three weeks?
A rummage in the kitchen department usually throws up something that I'd love.

BrowncoatWaffles · 03/12/2020 21:07

One of those travel coffee cups that has a cafetière plunger in it, some nice ground coffee and a magazine from Waitrose.

HoneyWheeler · 03/12/2020 21:09

God it's so hard for that amount isn't it! We have the JL credit card and occasionally get vouchers and I never know what to buy! A candle? I got a greeting card organiser from there by the brand Busy Bee which is totally unnecessary but I love it. Some special Christmas decks?

HoneyWheeler · 03/12/2020 21:09

Decs!! How shaming

AlwaysLatte · 03/12/2020 21:10

A nice cushion? Special pen?

AConvivialHost · 03/12/2020 21:19

It would be Denby Studio Grey mugs for me, but unfortunately they're out of stock

Theimpossiblegirl · 03/12/2020 21:22

A nice water bottle or coffee cup for walks.

I'd probably get gin really.

The Thing is a horror film?

I’m confused 😂

NotagainMrs · 03/12/2020 21:24

I have been looking at the J.L own brand electric oil diffuser to scent the room, as I have a voucher. Its £50 though Confused

NotagainMrs · 03/12/2020 21:25

Only some people know what The Thing is Xmas Shock

Cavagirl · 03/12/2020 21:26

Okay, then I vote for The Thing, if that’s what OP really wants it makes more sense

Aldi mince pies are the best anyway!

I love this - what to get the woman who has everything ? a greetings card organiser!

I would genuinely love one of those!

When you know, you know 😉

@blebliotheque I think I'd have to go for some really nice hand cream, probably Molton Brown. After all the hand sanitizer etc... good hand cream is a blessing.

frustrationcentral · 03/12/2020 21:51

I'd buy something from the toiletries/make up area but I know that's not what you're looking for! Or stationery? Cushion?
