Currently in the process of buying a house in a new area and been mulling over how best to go about making new friends and connections. DH and I have moved around a lot - and I am an immigrant here and have only just come back after decades away. My impression is that lots of people move areas quite a bit in the UK unlike where I come from. So do people try and make friends in every new place or do you spend weekends travelling to see your friends living elsewhere.
Feeling both excited about getting our own place - the first house we'll own at the grand old age of 40 but also daunted. Where we used to live I had a fab circle of friends mainly from works etc. But my work colleagues here are all dispersed, mostly live outside London and commute in.
Would love to hear how other people have managed to build a life in a new place or any tips etc. We'll be based in London which is fab but also quite transient
